Inquisitorial Scum | Warhammer 40k: Wrath & Glory

    It is the 42nd Millennium.

The galaxy has been split in twain by the machinations of Abbadon the Despoiler, worlds across the galaxy that were once considered free from the taint of Chaos manifest cults dedicated to the ruinous powers in ever-growing numbers. The forces of the Inquisition hunt heretics through the streets of worlds ever-closer to the throneworld, but even in these times they are not free from the schemes of their peers, clashing with one another as the citizens of the Imperium are left to fend for themselves against the debauched madmen of thirsting gods.

And so it is on the world of Perttronia XIII that the people are protected not by an Inquisitor, or by the hand of the Adeptus Arbites, but by a former Astra Militarum soldier. Banding together the people of Heladon Hive for over a generation under the Heladon Hellfighters, they function as both gang and military force, fending off the Obsidian Blade cult and standing to defend the innocent people of Perttronia, all

  • Alright you need a Wooden Greathammer, dump your charisma, and play it up as Lawful Evil.

  • No fucking way this was FATAL.

This has all the marks of free form to me, with a bit of rules as a framework, but if not, it could have been Exalted.

  • Easily one of my favorite tabletop stories of all time. I only wish I knew if this was a system or some kind of homebrew thing created by the DM.

  • Akitas were companions for Japanese nobility so they hunted, guarded, and loved on their masters very devoted, and I specifically had an American Akita, who are cross-bred with German Shepards. They're extremely intelligent, and will chase anything they see, not so much smell, but oftentimes absolutely.

  • Oh absolutely, but like, the guy who brags about his villainy ain't exactly complex, but I like it like that sometimes.

  • This is also important; sometimes not everyone wants to be a face.

  • Everything is a Jojo reference.

Just like everything is secretly a 40k reference.

  • Zealot Barbarians are objectively one of the most fun to play.

One of my favorite characters, of all time, was an Aasimar Path of the Zealot Barbarian.

The twist being she wasn't half-celestial half-human or anything, but half-Orc, and her father was Tempus. One of her character goals was to get the Orcish people to reject Gruumsh and follow a real war god.

  • I think there's also only so much you can do if people just won't engage.

  • Mayhaps I shall!

  • I will literally let my table sit in silence before butting in.

Like, I've trained myself to hold back so much I struggle to get a word in edgewise in more proactive groups.

The problem is definitely they're introverts, but I can't force them to talk.

  • No table should have a main character, but having standout characters is pretty common.

  • Sounds like my Akita

  • Of course there's ways to be better, but getting mad at the active player kinda justifies them calling them out.

  • I'm a very social player and even I can feel like I'm talked over sometimes in a very engage RP-heavy group, just because I've trained myself not to interrupt people.

  • I like a bit of 50/50 as a DM, and my players adore what I do sometimes.
