  • What I said can be applied to any type of visa. The policy is not going to fix anything, it's only going to invade peoples privacy and turn away legitimate visa applicants.

  • This is stupid. This will not stop spies and terrorists, they will just create fake accounts. This will only hurt legitimate immigrants.

  • Right, that's why it's important if at all possible to rank five names if you can so even if your vote gets transferred five times it will still count however participating is the most important part so even if you don't have five names please vote and rank Zohran #1.

  • There are more than five candidates so pick five good apples and exclude Cuomo entirely. To maximize the chance of your vote counting you should fill in all five because depending on how many rounds there are your vote may not count if you didn't rank all five. Please read the comments other people have been posting in reply to mine.

  • The one time I agree with Uber and Lyft.

  • Remember to fully fill out your ballot with five names too! The only reason Adams won last time was because some people didn't fully fill out their ballots.

  • Data center owners should work as aggressively as possible to build solar and wind capabilities. It would be best for all parties involved. They'd get cheaper energy and it would benefit everyone by not polluting as much.

Even if they cannot power all of their energy needs with renewables they could build some every year.

These companies are so rich they can easily afford it.

  • That's a good point about alternative rock. I changed the title from usually to sometimes, maybe usually was too much.

I've never thought about the word alternative being synonymous with progressive, I tend of think of as meaning against the grain or against the mainstream but in practice sometimes it just means bullshit like in the title. For example RT calls themselves "alternative media" but they're really just propaganda slop.

  • Showerthoughts @lemmy.world

Sometimes the word "alternative" should be replaced with the word "bullshit". Ex: alternative facts, alternative medicine

  • Have you voted yet in the primary (if eligible)?

For anyone reading this who's a registered Democrat and lives in NYC it's super import you vote in the primary by June 24. Urge as many like-minded friends and family to vote and offer them a ride or go on the bus with them if they need help with transportation. Even search things like NYC or New York City on social media and if you think they are like-minded urge them to vote.

Rank these names from #1 (best) to #5 (tolerable): Zohran Mamdani, Brad Lander, Adrienne Adams, Michael Blake, Zellnor Myrie

I'd recommend Zohran #1 and Brad #2. Zohran has a stellar ability to motivate volunteers. You really need those door knockers, they will help tip the scale in the general election. The general election is going to be difficult because Adams is running as an independent. If Cuomo wins, he and Adams will split the vote and hand the election to the Republican Curtis Sliwa. Zohran is fresh and gives voters someone to get excited about. He can crush the spoiler effect.

NYC Democrats: Don't rank unelectable Cuomo.

  • Right, it's not just American and Russia that are bad, it's the extremists in the middle east too! That's why I say buying fossil fuels from another country isn't the answer, electrification and green energy must be the way forward.

  • True, but far-right extremism is interconnected globally. Funny that people like Alex Jones talk about international conspiracies when the only real one is the way in which the far-right is coordinated and operate in lockstep. For example Trump has people from Hungary advising him and Trump and Republicans receive a lot of support from Russia. Musk endorsed the AfD and Reform UK. You stop one far-right party in your country or another country and you're helping the fight against the global far-right which will help stop far-right parties in other countries.

  • I wasn't aware of this before. No wonder Musk felt comfortable stepping down as CEO, he just appointed a like-minded person.

  • That's excellent! Hopefully there will be more and more people who don't know anyone who uses Twitter.

  • 100%! I'm sure you're not using it but if you have friends/family still on there urge them to quit using Twitter.

  • No matter what kind of trade deals the EU signs with the US, I feel strongly that the EU should work to divest away from fossil fuels as aggressively as possible. Do Europeans really want to be funding far-right extremism in Russia and America or do you want clean solar and wind energy?

  • Keep the pressure up, keep the numbers going down. Fight hard!
