  • All of those are true. But I still love it. Why? I like airships. And I like that I take my whole home with me as I explore, and don't have to travel back to a fixed point to store my treasures. Is it derivative? Yes. Is it repetitive? Yes. Does it tick all the boxes for me to relax for a couple hours at night? Absolutely.

  • Yeah, you're right it is pretty linear. Astroneer is fantastic regarding freedom, I totally agree. And I love that it doesn't have the food and water requirements, just air. That really lets you focus more on the exploration. Haven't played the other two you mentioned. I'd definitely say Forever Skies is a casual game. If I weren't playing that at night, I'd probably be playing Boggle Plus or Dr. Mario on the GameBoy. If I had the time (not at 11pm) to really get into a game where I cared about story or interesting mechanics, I would be playing something better. I could finally finish F.E.A.R., after 20 years. Or start MechWarrior 5.

  • I'm leaving Lemmy

  • I'm so sorry to hear this! Please don't delete your posts. I've enjoyed them. I'm really sorry the vibe changed so much for you. All I can say is that after 10 years on Reddit and two on here, here is still way better.

Where would you go after this? The only other alternative I can imagine is old-school forums.

  • I'll be honest and admit that I've done that once or twice. It was a Friday, and I went to lunch with a coworker at a pub nearby. He got a lunch beer, so I decided to get a lunch beer. Saw they had Dragonmead Final Absolution on tap, which is one of my favorite beers of all time. Usually, you get it in like, 10oz glasses, its 10% ABV. But the waitress asked if I wanted a short or a tall! I don't think she was familiar with it. I couldn't pass up an opportunity like that, so I got a tall. Nursed it throughout lunch. After we paid the bill, I pounded the rest of the 20oz glass. Got back to work, and started feeling it as soon as I put the car in park. It was all I could do not to take a George Costanza style desk nap. Nothing productive was done the rest of the afternoon.

I had a coworker at a different job come to a 1pm meeting and sit next to me, completely reeking of booze. He tried to contribute something, and when he got up to point at something he just stumbled and fell right into the projector screen then onto the floor. My boss asked me later if I noticed anything off about him in there, and I just said it looked like he lost his balance pretty bad, hope he's OK. Pretty sure he was going through some personal issues at the time, because I never saw him do anything like that again.

  • Hulu uses what I'm pretty sure was the ending credit song in the intro. Probably to avoid Teardrop royalties or something. I hate it so much, I didn't finish the series last time I tried to watch it.

  • I love it. I only have 32 hours into it so far, but I keep coming back to it more and more. Really, just because it's so chill. The survival aspect of it is so easy. Catch some fat dust moths, cook, and freeze. Tanks of water ready to be purified at any time. So really, it's just a chill game where you float around and collect stuff to build a better ship. I play it for acouple hours late at night after my wife and kid are asleep to unwind. It's not a game that takes a lot of skill or concentration, it's just relaxing. And when I'm in my glass walled bedroom, ship swaying back and forth in a storm, I'd say it's downright cozy. Float around, find blueprints for a new chair or lamp, call it a night.

  • $602.41 for 50 games in 18.4 years. Cost at today's prices: $698. I'd say that's a win.

2,095 hours. 72% of games played. Guess I need to get to work.

I wish I could track my pre-steam numbers. Id be interested to see how much time I put into Mechwarrior 3, or Rollercoaster Tycoon, or Unreal Tournament.

  • Oh, the one where the wife finds it is such a good one. With crazy updates. But that's not the story. It's the one where the guy parks the jar in the rear. But when the pressure is too much for the jar to bear, it implodes. The man must then handle the gruesome task of removing the shards.

  • A buddy of mine. Just refuses to. Never elaborated, I didn't ask. Probably part of why his marriage didn't last.

By that logic, my deep love for the act should ensure mine will last forever.

  • Hey baby, the vikings used bones of dead animals in their weapons to make them stronger. Come on over and I'll bone you like a dead animal and you can see how strong my dick is.

Any way to remove display resolutions in Mint?

Or is there a way to set a resolution as a default for specific displays?

I have 3 monitors in my setup. Two are on a KVM, and one is always on my Mint PC. That monitor is an old XP era Dell. But it isn't hooked up with DVI, instead I have it connected via HDMI to an audio extractor to the Dell speakers, then HDMI to DVI. It works great. Except when I hit the KVM switch, and for some reason the resolution on the Dell changes from 1280x1024 to 1920x1080, which is unsupported.

How the heck do I get 1280x1024 to be persistent?

I did Gusse's IDE Resurrector on my slim 70012.

It took probably 10 hours of troubleshooting going off his troubleshooting guide. There was a tiny short i couldn't even see through my jewelers loupe, but measurements said it was there. So, I scraped between a couple pins with my smallest tweezers, and boom. Done.

Then, after I finished, I discovered there is a newer and better version of this mod, the iFlash2PS2. The IDE Resurrector only supports up to 128GB cards. The iFlash can handle up to 1TB. And it looks like slightly less soldering. So, learn from me. Do the iFlash.

I'm assuming you all know about FMCB, and how to rip your discs to ISO files. If you don't, this is a great way to save your console that won't read discs anymore, like this one I picked up in an "as-is" bin super cheap at a used game store. I'd look up Tito from Macho Nacho's PS2 mod videos.

Here's a pic of my terrible wiring. Yes, that's from a CAT5 cable. The wire is ordered for this mod wasn't small enough and I was too impatient to wait for more. It's very

Just got Aladdin CAV in the mail today!

I have a toddler that's starting to get into Disney, so I've been expanding my collection. Last week, I got the Masterpiece Lion King boxed set. I already have a lot (probably a dozen) Disney Home Video CLV discs, I think I'm going to try to get the CAV releases instead.

Just got fenders for my grandpa's 1997 Jazz Calypso.

I got this when he sold his house to move to an assisted living facility. It's just been sitting in my garage for a couple years. Busy with the kid and all that. Well, we just got a little child trailer, and I didn't want to pull it with my mountain bike so figured it would be a good time to clean this guy up. New tires and tubes. Cleaned and lubed. Waxed. I thought it was trying hard to look like an old Schwinn, so I thought some nice shiny fenders would help out with that.

I have so many memories of going on rides with him, and of him taking it camping. I always thought it was a nice looking bike. I'll have to show him a picture of it all cleaned up next time I see him, I don't think he's ridden it in at least a decade.

Next on the agenda is new brake pads, and some retro lights. Any other suggestions? Maybe a white saddle seat, or different handlebars? I'm pretty sure its only value is sentimental, so the best suggestions are cheap suggestions. Thanks!

    Thanks for the PETG help

I tried just about every suggestion here, but still couldn't get an airtight print. This is transparent PLA. I'm going to play with my speeds and overlap to try to get it clearer, but it was dimensionally accurate and completely sealed the first try.

Don't look too carefully at the barrel, it's just a hollow test one. I was able to eyedropper fill and test the grip section with it, but the OD is wrong, and there's no real filling mechanism in it. That's phase 2 of this project!

    PETG Printing advice?

I'm pretty new to PETG, and have been really struggling with it compared to PLA. My latest print of this part is dimensionally accurate, but I need it to be air tight. It is very much not at the moment.

I have a Flashforge Adventurer 3, so the hot end and nozzle are one interchangeable unit. My higher temp nozzle is 0.6mm. My 0.3mm is only capable of 240. My last print was 0.2mm layers, with the 0.6mm nozzle at 245C. I used 15% overlap on my walls, and in order to keep my nice dimensions I had my cooling fan on.

Anybody have any advice on how to improve the seal? I'm tempted to try more overlap, with random start locations per layer. Do you think if I run it hotter I can get the layers a little thinner? Any advice would be appreciated.
