    • Identity Check was spotted on a OnePlus 13 running the Android 16 beta.
    • The feature is expected to arrive on more Android phones with the Android 16 update coming later this year.
    • It requires a change to Android's biometric prompt code, which can't be completed without a full update.

When enabled, Identity Check requires biometric authentication to view or modify certain sensitive parts on your Android smartphone. A fingerprint or face unlock is required for the following actions when your device is outside of a trusted location:

    • Accessing saved passkeys and app passwords
    • Changing PIN, pattern, or password, and turning off Find My

For these actions, biometric authentication is mandatory outside of trusted locations with Identity Check enabled — a password, PIN, or pattern won't work as an alternative. This is intended to prevent people from hijacking your Google account or other online accounts

  • Then what about the issue with CSAM being posted from the instance? https://lemmy.one/post/27053014

  • OnePlus will be releasing the OnePlus 13T next week, albeit only in China for the time being. While the company will not be officially presenting its compact flagship until April 24, it has revealed plenty of about the device on Chinese social media.

It's the 24th of April (2025), where did you see October?

  • I live in Europe as well, it's indeed too bad they don't officially release it here, it could really give some real competition to Samsung, Apple and Google

  • Thanks for sharing. I've been looking at gaming handhelds recently, but a bit smaller than the Switch or the Steamdeck.

It is a half baked review, IMO. The author says that despite having 45 W charging, the phone takes 75 mins to charge. Samsung really slows down it's charging speeds post 80%, so testing from 0 to 100 is not a good criterion at all.

Plus, he forgets to mention that Samsung skips on a microSD card for A56 which was present on A55. Though in Samsung's favor, they are offering 6 OS upgrades and I doubt any other OEM except Google matches it.
