Indie Otome Eternal Glory enters Early Access
Romance of cruel fate, fantasy otome game ‘Eternal Glory’
Our mini-stat raiser/resource management game Sorcell's Spectacular Spell got a big update after two years!
This was originally developed in three days for the Cozy Fall Jam 2023, and the update has been in the works for over a year 😅
I finally took the time and added the finishing touches over the easter weekend!
It's a short and simple mini-statraiser/resource-management game about helping a wizard train for a magic competition. We worked on it as a team of eight and it has adorable chibi 2D art (by @MangoCake@mastodon.social) and a completely original soundtrack!
The update added more CGs, more random events, a reworked minigame and a revised script + lots of bug fixes and quality of life stuff. It's overall a more complete experience now^^
Playing it from beginning to end should take no longer than half an hour, please give it a try :D
I use Mastodon and Goblin

Villainess webcomic recommendations?
Hi! I've been on kind of a villainess comic spree lately and need more material, any recommendations? I would LOVE a story where the protagonist actually plays the part as well. Plus points for a smart, morally grey/anti-hero protagonist!
Faves so far have been:
It's a regular manga, but I also like The One Within The Villainess a lot
Any reccs welcome!
Why are dating sims almost always just a gag though OTL
I'm not really an expert for otome terminology myself, thats just based on my own interpretation of the term ^^;
i used that as a short hand for games meant for self-insertion, that have a very thin MC characterization as a result. Yumejoshi is generally a term for fans who like to self/oc-ship instead of having a defined MC, so blank slate-self inserts fall into that area.
I think the only game where that kind of worked for me was mystic messenger 🤔 But thats because you have a lot of opportunities to voice your opinion there, so it felt more natural to identify myself with the MC.
i meant that
//my first impression was that this is an age-gap romance, but after looking up some info, the guy is actually way, way younger than he looks
might give this a try
I honestly have trouble coming up with specific tropes I like 😅 As long as the character has depth and is well-written (and doesn't have any of my personal squicks) then I'm game 🤔
same 😅
I see, I hadn't considered that some of the mechanics would be harder for mobile players 🤔 The main reason for my complaint is that the fights feel way too short if you play them perfectly, you don't even get to listen to the entire soundtrack once when the boss goes down 😔 had this especially when fighting ::: spoiler spoiler Chigda. The soundtrack is incredible, but he goes down before you've even seen all the mechanics. :::
I honestly didn't realize how much I've been missing a proper AAA girly game on PC until I played infinikki. I'd been using FFXIV to scratch that fashion itch until then, but a proper dress-up game is just better :,) Also I will go out and say the puzzle design and encounter design is so much more interesting than that of comparable titles such as genshin impact (I just wish the fights were harder)!
When I saw this, I immediately sent the link to a gamedev I know who has a disability. They were really excited 🥰
GDoc Expo is all about uplifting talented developers with perspectives and stories that otherwise don't get a lot of attention in mainstream gamedev circles and media otherwise. That's why it's important to support events like these.
If you would like, you can check out the hundreds of other gamedev events on gameconfguide! Why not participate in #notGDC this year? It's free, open for everyone, and there's a low barrier of entry 😉
we discussed this over in !otomegames@ani.social back when it was initially announced! The fandom seems to be delighted about this feature, but I'm personally more concerned about the data privacy aspect of it all...the author is absolutely right to look at this whole thing with scepticism
I find it a little far-fetched to solely link the popularity of otome games to some kind of frustration with modern dating, though. Romance games (and romance in games, e.g. Baldur's Gate 3 or Mass Effect) offer a lot of fun in-and-of themselves.
It's a section at the bottom of the steam store page:
