We won the last two world wars with out producing everyone and engaging in attrition. Hey, let's outsource our manufacturing capacity so we can fuck over unions! What do you mean we're not prepared for a world war of attrition???

I keep voting Republican and they keep attacking my ability to have a decent life. Weird. No Democrats

Meh. Our big bombers are always in range of anyone in the world because of midair refueling.

I had to support HP Personal Page back in the day. HP can't write software.

While good in the way you outline, you are underestimating HP's fuckwhittery.

This could be the end of Mike Tomlin.

The heady days of using Copy-b and Copy-c in the Commodore 64 days. Back when floppies were really floppies.

WiFi is already pretty universal in smart automation systems, Matter doesn't matter much when the underlying protocol is Wifi. And since 99% of Matter devices are WiFi...

Tesla was overinflated because it was run as a software startup, where they had money pouring in from venture capital. They had money coming in, but it wasn't simply from sales. Let's see if that stalls too.
But wasn't his Tesla shares used as collateral for the Twitter financing? If Tesla tanks enough, won't his Saudi banking backers raise hell?

Psst, Max. The Rogers of today is not the same player from 5 years ago.

Paying contractors for work already done? You know that upsets Trump.

Of course, the Gilded Age wasn't great for regular folks.

Media outlets still can't bring themselves to blame Trump and Republicans.

There are some areas in the south. But overwhelmingly English is spoken.

Excellent stewardship, Microsoft.

Dems and Bernie will talk about it, but they won't DO anything about it.

Translation: He's not black or a woman.

From what I'm hearing the Lions are burning up the phone line trying to get a deal done. It's just that so is every other team in the league. I'm sure the price is crazy right now.

Pretty much, yeah. Only thing not 100% yet are some of the more obscure peripherals. Example: Eye and head tracking. While sticks can and do work in Linux, it would be nice if VKB, Virpil, etc had native Linux calibration tools.

It would be comedy gold if the Rams jettisoned Stafford for the even older Rodgers.

The VoIP in progress binary sensor ...

Hey all, anyone know if there are any directions on how to swap out to the assist_satellite from this depreciated sensor? Normally when there is a swap like this, the Home_Assistant folks give us some directions, but I can't find squat on this.

Linux equivalent to Robocopy?
Hey All, When my desktop was Windows, I'd use my desktop to rip DVD/Blu-rays, move them to the movies folder, then use robocopy to copy just new files from my desktop to my Plex server. Used switches to copy just the new files and folders.
What is the Linux equivalent to do this?

Rams vs Lions, season opener!
LA Rams vs Detroit Lions.
Ford Field

TV: NBC and Peacock
Stafford is back for more abuse. The revamped defense gets a test right off the bat. Especially with Puka Nucua AND Cooper Kupp heathy and ready to play.
DJ Reader has been ruled out for game 1.

VOIP softphone in Linux
Hey All,
I'm looking for a good softphone in Linux. I tried Linphone, but it had the same issue I had in Windows where I could send texts ok, but can't send and receive calls. In Windows, I used Microsip since it worked as soon as I configured it. Linphone seems to be "special." Any suggestions?
And I don't care about video calls.

The Pre-Season...
Hey Everyone,
I haven't been active here for camp and the pre-season. My Wife passed away in early July, and it has been hard. I'll get back to it at the start of the regular season. I haven't abandoned the community.

K Michael Badgley out for the 2024 season
Lions kicker Michael Badgley is out for the entire 2024 season with a torn hamstring. Lions are down to just one kicker, Jake Bates.

Dark Mode Question

Hey all, noob here. In the system settings of Pop OS I chose dark mode. At first everything was fine. But something happened. This issue is only happening in the Show Applications area. It is dark mode, but the text is all black instead of switching over to a lighter color like it did before. Makes it tough to read as you can see in the screenshot. I've tried flipping to light mode and then back to dark mode several times of varying length with no success. Any tips to get it back to normal?
Bonus issue: I have uninstalled OpenRGB, but it is still showing up in the app list as you can see in the screenshot. Any way to remove it? If I reinstall OpenRGB, I get a second icon.

Pre-Camp House Cleaning

Hey all, with camp just a few weeks away I'd like to reach out to you and see what you would like to see. After all, this is YOUR forum much more than it is mine.
Anything you'd like to see from me? Any kind of content you'd like to do or take over? Anything I'm doing that annoys the hell out of you?
Generally I've been trying to do an opponent preview on Monday/Tuesday, game thread, and post game thread. And yeah, I've missed occasionally. Sorry.
Let me know what you think.

How to install apps in other locations?
So just got my computer switched over to Pop! OS.
When I open the Pop Shop, the installers don't give me an option to change the location of the app installs. I have 4 disks, 2 nvmes, 2 hard disks. I would prefer to install some of my apps to the 2nd nvme, which I have mounted to /Apps. Mainly the games I will play, along with Stream and Lutris.
Would I need to install from the terminal with apt or nala? I installed nala because it looks cleaner, but we'll see.

Lions sign Jake Bates to a two year deal

The Lions signed big-footed UFL kicker Jake Bates to a two-year contract.

Bates signed a 2 year deal with the Lions after visiting the Packers and Commanders. Bates gained attention in the UFL while on the Michigan Panthers, where he kicked game winning, 64 yard and 62 yard field goals. He was 17 of 22 (77%) for the Panthers, including 7 of 7 from 40-49 yards and 6 of 10 with 50+ yards.
Interesting they gave him a two year deal instead of a one year prove it deal. Maybe they anticipate him winning the job?

Lions sign Jared Goff to a 4 year, $212M extension

Goff is now the NFL's second highest-paid QB

Lions sign Goff to a 4 year, $212M extension, with $170M guaranteed. The $53M AAV makes Goff the 2nd highest paid player in the NFL, behind Joe Burrow. For now.

Lions Match Brock Wright's Offer from the 49ers

Lions elect to retain Brock Wright.

The Lions have matched Brock Wright’s three-year, $12 million offer sheet with the San Francisco 49ers.
While LaPorta may be our #1 going forward, Wright played 44% of the Lions' snaps. He's still a big part of our offense.

Lions re-sign cornerback Kindle Vildor
One year deal, but details haven't been released yet.

WR Josh Reynolds signs with the Denver Broncos

The Detroit Lions were interested in re-signing Josh Reynolds, but were reluctant to overspend on a potential No. 3 WR next season.

Guess DPJ is WR3 for now.
