  • Oh 100%. We live in a nightmare dystopian hellscape where rights are made up and the laws don't matter. All the better reason to not publicly oppose the freaks in power in an easily traceable way.

  • Depending on what that exact feeling is, I feel like you should probably act on it too.

  • Normally said by people who very literally think that it's their country (white, conservative, and typically male).

  • What if I just really like birds out of a deep seated jealousy?

  • Yeah, I'm also using proton and knew about this type of situation happening before. If I was going to do something illegal/disruptive enough to attract the attention of police, I simply would not attach my personal email to it. I just don't see why anyone would think that the police won't have a way of tracing a service that you paid for with banking details in your name back to you. It's just shitty opsec.

  • It is genuinely destroying my mental health to try to process how awful things are, and how much worse they are likely to get. I used to think that the bulk of the right wing populace was just misguided, but had good intentions. It turns out that there was nothing but greed and malice behind all of their nationalism and religion. Regardless of how things turn out, I will never put any iota of faith in anything said or done by the right.

  • I don't really see how proton is the bad guy here. If they gave VPN logs, sure, they claim to not keep those. They make no claims that their email service is completely anonymous, though. If you're going to do something that riles up the feds, use a disposable email or pay for email using a method that isn't easily traceable. If this person had done that, proton wouldn't have had any info to respond to the subpoena with.

  • Oh I'm sure she will be super honest and forthcoming

  • Zelensky should make goddamn sure that nothing happens until he gets a filmed thank you.

  • I've seen like 5 different derivations of this headline. We know who bombed the girls school. It was the US and Israel. This war belongs to both. If I rob a bank with 5 guys and one of the others kills someone, that's a felony murder charge for me. It does not matter which US made plane dropped the US made bomb paid for by US citizens at the direct request of Israel, they are both 100% culpable in this atrocity.

  • I wish you'd be more daring. Right now you're really just being a big chicken.

  • Any chance there's a sign somewhere nearby telling them that work will set them free?

  • You have to remember that animals clean their paws with their mouths. Saliva has the rabies virus, making their claws a vector for transmission. It's not the most common thing, but it absolutely has happened before.

Gotta get that rabies shot if your skin gets broken, it's a top 10 horrifying disease.

  • The mods are significantly less arbitrary in enforcing rules, with the exception of the instances that we all know. There are still some goofy exceptions, but by and large the mods are less power trippy.

  • Make a lemmy.world account if you want the "site going down all the time" experience.

  • You don't find it a bit ironic to be calling out people criticizing capitalism for making people miserable as "smug" while being incredibly smug?

  • Idk about that one. It's just way harder to suppress news now than it was back in Iraq and Nam.

  • Some dipshit MAGAT I drive by on the way to work every day has added a "Trump 2028" sign to his yard this week. Do not underestimate the evil/stupidity of these people.

  • Why are you here? I thought the MAGATs had their own instance.

    Wren not quite getting it
