  • Problem is, this is a completely incompetent and insane government, so these new institutions will be underfunded, unregulated, and poorly run. The result will be inmates being starved, beaten, tortured, neglected, and killed by by staff. I don't think it will be any better than what we have now.

  • Do any of these work as substitutes in baking recipes or batters?

  • There have been stories about artificially grown meat, but I wonder if we can artificially produce animal milk as well.

  • The master’s tools will never dismantle the master’s house.

  • Another instance of military secrets being leaked outside of the War Thunder forums?

    Damn amateurs.

Thousands of protesters rallied April 19 at the Ohio Statehouse to oppose the Trump administration.

  • First it's the "foreigners", next it'll be LGBTQ (starting with the T), then it'll be protesters and "radical liberals".

Are we tired of winning yet?

  • Go fuck yourself Magic Mike. I work 50 hours a week and video games are my pleasant distraction from that work. You should try it sometime. Working, I mean.

  • "Ah we'll just vote them out in 2-4 years and we can go back to brunch."

There are no guard rails this time. No guard rails! This problem won't just go away on its own, as this very bill demonstrates.

  • Screw Steve Jobs for foisting the disposable tech business model upon the world, and screw Trump for depriving us of one of the very few products that stands against that business model.

  • At least the Herman Cain kooks have an award they can earn for their kookery.

  • Yeah? Where's my George Soros check Elon? Where's my fucking money Elon? WHERE IS IT?

  • Hundreds of people turned out in Xenia and Dayton. I was really impressed at how Ohioans are fighting back!

  • I think someone else coined the term "Trump Slump" but man is it just perfect.

  • Been a while since we've had a good talking filibuster.

Elon Musk stepping down from DOGE in May

"Musk’s team said it saved the country $115 billion by slashing wasteful and redundant spending. Not everyone agrees, but he feels he has the country on track and he can step aside."

State District Court of Appeals Blocks Ohio’s Ban on Gender-Affirming Care for Trans Minors

Today, in an historic win for bodily autonomy and LGBTQ+ Ohioans, a three judge panel on the Tenth District Court of Appeals overturned House Bill 68, Ohio’s law banning gender-affirming medical care for trans youth, and prohibiting trans women and girls from participating in sports.

Researchers Klaudia Jaźwińska and Aisvarya Chandrasekar noted in their report that roughly 1 in 4 Americans now use AI models as alternatives to traditional search engines. This raises serious concerns about reliability, given the substantial error rate uncovered in the study.

    Sharp EL-501V

Found my old grade school calculator while going through some drawers. It's not programmable or retro (yet) or valuable, but it served me well for many, many years.

Pretty sure I learned the pattern for incrementing binary numbers on this thing while I was sitting bored in study hall before I even knew what binary was.

A bipartisan bill in the Ohio Senate would give free meals to K-12 students in public and non-public chartered schools.

The doge.gov website that was spun up to track Elon Musk’s cuts to the federal government is insecure and pulls from a database that can be edited by anyone, according to two separate people who found the vulnerability and shared it with 404 Media. One coder added at least two database entries that are visible on the live site and say “this is a joke of a .gov site” and “THESE ‘EXPERTS’ LEFT THEIR DATABASE OPEN -roro.”

Ohio legislators introduce 'Conception Begins at Erection' bill

The newly introduced legislation would make it a felony for men to “discharge semen without the intent to fertilize." It's called the "Conception Begins at Erection Act."

    Found Cat

Found a lost cat at the park this week. Hopefully I can find her owners soon. In the meantime, she has certainly made herself at home.

I suspect 1-2 years old but hard to say. Female. Unsure if spayed. No collar or chip. Very sweet and friendly. Planning to get her to the vet for a checkup ASAP. She's a bit skinny so was probably lost for a few days, and definitely has an appetite now.

I hope she wasn't dumped, because some people really don't like black cats, and also leaving cats in the wild is very bad for the environment.

PSA please chip your pets, even if they're indoor pets!

FIDO Alliance Publishes Specification For Exchanging Passkeys

When I first learned about passkeys it sounded like nothing more than a vendor lock-in cash grab dressed up as security. This new spec might actually improve the situation and make them useable across more platforms and systems. Assuming Apple, Google, and Microsoft don't find a way to screw it up again.
