  • And the Lord spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it.

Some torrenting software to ensure you can help share it around.

I recently heard of something called a 'Pirate box' which is a WiFi router without a password and storage attached for people to upload and download stuff to / from .

I wouldn't do it myself, but if it was a country town, it could be something similar to a virtual notice board in the pub.

    • Might as well get Debian and Ubuntu too.
  • i use edit.com, notepad and geany btw

  • The main things i learnt from vim are Escape :q and ^Z. Not a dig on vim, but it was quite a learning curve at the time when nano has been good enough for just about everything i do day to day.

  • i use edit.com, notepad and geany btw

  • I dont know what that acronym means. I just use nano as a basic text editor, its automatically showing me different colours XML now. I have used it as a text editor for code before, but if i knew i was going to be coding lots, id look at others like vim and emacs. Me using it is a result of it being the quickest tool to get the job done at the time 'efficiently' and i know there are more powerful ones out there.

  • Lamingtons are a cake dipped in chocolate sauce dipped in dessicated coconut, sometimes filled with cream (you might know it as thickened cream, or whipped cream. I've heard shows where people put cream in coffee...)

I just had a look at their menus and they don't have Chicken Parmigianas which is common in pubs over here.

Oven cooked chicken. Covered In crumb, then put under the griller with a marinara (tomato) sauce on top and cheese. Chicken Kiev (crumbed chicken with garlic/herb butter inside).

Fairy bread isn't exactly a good, but something that could be found at a kid's birthday.

If I was travelling up North id want to try Poutine and a real Deep Dish Pizza.

  • While I don't agree with the other replier to you, I will caution anyone who wants to try it that they only need a small amount spread on toast and if you go slapping it on like Hazelnut spread, you'll get a bit of a surprise.

Edit And today I learned vegemite has a fortified b vitamin version...

  • Not banned but I like here more. I left during the Exodus/ blackouts/shutdowns. In another life I was a mod for a moderately successful sub and after going into the rabbit hole and seeing the app timer increase to hours a day, I felt they could at least gift mods premium and they could skip ads. After some drama and a high caliber mod left the sub, I followed shortly after as the community has grown and changed.

  • Ridiculously fast.

Bullet train fast. But in terms of cars, he would have been driving around three times the highest legal limit I know of on highways in Australia (110km/hr). Its about as fast a formula 1 cars or out V8 cars going full speed.

The fastest production car (Bugatti Veyron can go 431km/h)

Edit: Solved-Having trouble creating a new community (suspect no one else can currently create a community)

I tried, but when I clicked create, it didn't proceed or give an error message, more details below.

I'm looking to create a new community, so i clicked on the 'Create Community' button on the top.

I entered in a community name (all lowercase, no spaces) and then a display name.

I added a short description and selected english.

I clicked create and got a hourglass like icon for about a second and then nothing. A new page didnt appear, i checked my profile and cannot see the new community name.

I checked a post a few hours ago in Lemmy World support and someone else is having trouble.

Ive also tried on two devices, desktop & mobile.

p.s. on mobile there is a issue that could result in butting heads where if you hover over the create community textbox it gives text of 'lowercase, underscores and no spaces' but these constrains are not listed in the ? next to Create community. When i was on mobile i wasnt able to get the hovertext and if it was my first time creating a communit

What is a community you like and would recommend to others and why?

Was out on a walk earlier today and wanted to do something sort of Christmas related and try and help people pass on virtual presents in the form of community suggestions.

What is a community you think more people should be subscribed to and why?

My answer is https://lemmy.world/c/superbowl ( Superb Owl, not Superbowl. It's a community about birds, not americal football) and there is frequently high quality images of owls posted which I find cute and I wish I could take shots like that. P.s. I know birds aren't everyone's thing, but I wanted to use it as an example.

And I the community is NSFW but the name isn't obvious, flag it as NSFW.

Two tired Tawny Frogmouths (New South Wales, Australia)

    cross-posted from: https://lemmy.world/post/23520195

I was out recently noticed two Tawnys in a tree, i was surpirsed as the last i saw any was around a year ago and it was just one where i’d always seen two together.

These two looked very tired. The one on the left was more awake and i felt like i was being glared at. ‘Dude, I’m watching you, I don’t like you and if you come closer, we might have to move, and we really, really don’t want to do that’.

So i came close enough to get this shot and left them in peace but am keeping an eye out for them the next time in the area.

Not something urgent, but the Aussie parliament passed new laws yesterday and it could impact Lemmy.world (in a year)

Hi Lemmy.World Admins and Support Staff,

I like this place a lot and wanted to give you a heads up pollies down under passed some new laws.

The govt wants a ban on social media for everyone under 16. This week was the last sitting week of parliament and a few bills were passed by both houses and are set to become law. (See link).

I'm not after any immediate reaction or actions, but looking to bring it to your attention for you to discuss (edit:internally) how you would react. I haven't seen the legislation and don't know how this is meant to be mechanized and it seems pretty hard to do.

Some other tech giants have already made statements as this appears to be a worldwide first.

Edit: I might have a look at the laws text and put some details here as a comment

Another cockatoo was also eating in another tree. I got the feeling they knew they were being photographed, but one of them screeched an alarm shortly after and the whole group flew off. I saw a flock well over a hundred flying around the suburb later that day.

Sydney CBD, Opera House and botanical gardens viewed from the harbour +2 more pics in body.

Behind the Sydney Opera House is Circular Quay, which is the hub of ferry traffic in the harbour. There's also private vessels, cruise ships, , a floating bar and the occasional military vessel.

There are several classes of ferry in the fleet, including rivercats (on the left) which have a shallow draft as they travel up the river to Paramatta.

The largest class of Sydney Ferry are the Freshwater class which travels to Manly and back near the Sydney Heads which can lead to a bumpy ride if there's a swell.

What are some parts of your agreements you consider non-negotiable? Or something you decided to add because you learnt the hard way?

I recently did some freelance work and due to a misunderstanding of what would actually be delivered, I decided to draft up a short but written agreement for future clients.

Although a written discussion was had about what was to be done, it appears both parties had different ideas about what would happen.

Im largely dealing with a client I get on well with and wanted to keep things simple and the template I've got is:-

    Event name:

    Event dates:

Overview of services to be be provided onsite:

Specific services (if any) : (shots considered essential)

    Dependencies:

Deliverables: (quantity, format , delivery timeline)

Copyright: (stay with photographer or rights to be signed over)

Post event services: (any editing that may take significant time)

Cost and payment schedule: (booking fee, payment milestones)

Limitation of Liability: under no circumstances shall I be considered liable for more than the agreed cost of services to be provided.

The Sydney Ferry "Fairlight" passes the Sydney Opera House on the way in to Circular Quay

Sydney has many ferries travelling on its harbour to help move people around, some are smaller and have a shallow draft like the Rivercats that travel between Circular Quay and Paramatta and there are several other ferry classes painted in Green and Gold.

Note: Image uploaded at 1921x1080 pixels. In some of my other posts in other communities, some people said the images were small, and it looks like Lemmy creates thumbnails as .webp files and some of these may be shown. I'm using the default theme and have to click on the image to get it to show the full resolution image.
