  • Most people polled in most eastern Europe post-Soviet countries who lived in socialism (except a few like Poland or Estonia) claim that life was better under socialism

    I remember the poll you're referring to. It was click-bait articles that made it sound like that, the actual research stated nothing like this.

    They were basically "did you enjoy your life when you were young" kind of questions. And, to the apparent shock of everybody, when you ask an 70-80 year old that question, they'll answer "yes".

    The only people who think fondly of the times under russian occupation are the people who were a part of the system.

  • Anything where the goal is objectively to help the other person. Pain caused by the dentist, for instance. That's technically harm, but it's necessary, and it's objectively helping the person being subjected to pain.

    Anything ideology-related (like conversion camps) is unnecessary harm, because ideology (or morality, for that matter) is subjective.

    Locking someone in prison is necessary harm - you're protecting other people from the harm caused by the person locked up, and that's an objective fact.

    Killing someone in a defensive war is necessary harm - you're the one being invaded, you can either defend yourself or get killed.

    To me, it's all fairly simple.

    How's battery life? They say it's "up to 12 hours", but I'm assuming that's "lowest brightness, no BT, no WiFi", staring at a black wallpaper"?

    Which OS did you go with? Debian? And were there any issues with drivers for the touch-screen?

    Do you have it with the keyboard/cover? Does it automatically go to sleep when you close it? Same with the power button press - does it go to sleep and then recover without issues?

    Assembled, not manufactured. If you look closely, you'll notice that Tuxedo's InfinityBook and Slimbook's Evo have the same exact body.

    They both source them from Taiwan.

  • Anyone knows how's StarBook's support and general quality? The Horizon looks pretty damn good, but is pricy, compared to Tuxedo's Aura 14, and Tuxedo has a super cool support app built-in to their Linux distro.
