i think israel should also exist, its absolutely stupid to propose it be removed cause then you have the problem of a bunch of jews having nowhere to go again
And, more importantly, you lose the moral ground on which you get to protest the Palestinian genocide when you're advocating for Israeli genocide.
On the other hand they should be sanctioned and stopped from commiting constant warcrimes and palestinians live their lives in their rightful territory
Absolutely agree. UN forces should secure the borders (as they were originally defined) and consider any settler a terrorist.
The russia situation is a bit different. Theres no real reason for its existance. Its a bunch of russians opressing minorities, they should have their own country if were following the ethnostate idea. At very least european and asian russia should be seperate countries. But yeah thats never happening.
Yup. I kind of hope that their economy crashing will allow the eastern provinces to reach independence, but at the same time I realise that it would be suicide for them. Like, even if they somehow managed to get the money and food to supply and govern themselves, there's no reality in which China doesn't immediately swoop in and grab half of Siberia.
This is somehow controversial, but I firmly believe that all of them, Ukraine, Palestine, Israel, Iran, everyone else, deserves an independent nation free of totalitarian dictators or religious fundamentalists.
My favourite feature is that you can set your own font there now. I downloaded the font used in Nothing Phones and used it on all the Fossify apps. It looks brilliant:
Fuck me... I only started looking more closely after your comment and noticed that the room's proportions are fucked up. But, at a first glance, it looks like a photo from the 90s...
I am normally used to high fantasy where the worldbuilding makes sense, but harry potter just flows like she thought of what could come next, and that’s it.
Just a quick reminder that she designed Quidditch specifically in a way that would infuriate any person even remotely familiar with how sports games work, because she wanted to "bet back at" a guy who dumped her.
No, because rich futurists base their actions solely on the belief in a subjective theory. There are many ways to achieve what they're after, and many of those ways do not require anyone's hurt.
Funding education, funding social services, funding mental healthcare. Enforcing existing laws against harassment on big tech.
That's a solution that maybe, possibly, will solve the issue 30 years from now (because we need to educate not only the kids, but - most importantly - their parents).
It also doesn't solve the issue of state (or state-adjacent) actors purposefully spreading content designed to cause disruption and chaos.
One of the biggest social media platforms is spamming child porn, they’ve all been proven to be addictive on purpose, and we’re blaming teenage users.
At least in the context of the article in the OP, and the comment I'm replying to - nobody is blaming anything on anyone. At least I don't see it.
It's a historical, provable fact that russia invaded the Baltics, Poland, Czechoslovakia and a bunch of other countries in the East, installed puppet governments, and unified everything as "USSR" (with some countries, like Poland, having a bit more independence, and technically wasn't a part of the USSR).
People in the Baltics are extremely russophobic
"Russophobic"? We're not afraid of them, we just don't like them for the hundreds of years of meddling and suffering they've caused us. Again, it's not a conspiracy theory, it's history.
Most people polled in most eastern Europe post-Soviet countries who lived in socialism (except a few like Poland or Estonia) claim that life was better under socialism
I remember the poll you're referring to. It was click-bait articles that made it sound like that, the actual research stated nothing like this.
They were basically "did you enjoy your life when you were young" kind of questions. And, to the apparent shock of everybody, when you ask an 70-80 year old that question, they'll answer "yes".
The only people who think fondly of the times under russian occupation are the people who were a part of the system.
And, more importantly, you lose the moral ground on which you get to protest the Palestinian genocide when you're advocating for Israeli genocide.
("you" here is "a person", not you, @AI_toothbrush@lemmy.zip)
