  • There is a non-zero chance the account runners aren't actually located there anyway. They are totally aware of what they are doing, appealing to the western warmongers who will highfive and talk about how bad a burn it was to Russia. If you told me that the account was run by a US social media manager or something, I would believe it.

  • I have about the same position on this. A lot (though not all) of these people are insufferable, though we don't have nearly as many in my country as the US does. Being annoying on the internet is, thankfully, not something people get deported for however.

Nor does it mean I wish them death, which is likely what would happen if they were sent back. Their death and a prolonging of a war that is just going to kill even more.

  • I mean my expectations are low because reddit, but is there any /r/CountryName that isn't like this? You usually have to find the alternatively named sub to find people positive on the place, like MovingtoNorthKorea or Sino.

  • On first read, thought they meant "sensitivity for the victims and their families" meant the victims of Mussolini. I could understand cautioning sympathy for them, and that just seeing Mussolini could be triggering for those people.
Then I realized they probably meant that Mussolini and his family were the victims? Which is...a take to be sure. Especially as from what I remember, his remaining family are not a whole lot better.

  • Well NOW Russia is absolutely going to crumble without the lucrative Estonian market. They do have more people than uh...Monaco or Luxembourg?

...wait, they are only just now doing this? So while raging about how evil Russia was for the past twoish years, they were happily buying their stuff still?

  • There was that Brit volunteer (Richard Woodruff) who was advocating everyone be racist to Russians for the rest of their lives and was being celebrated for it.

He was also advocating taking a plane and flying it into the Kremlin. I am not sure how multiple three letter agencies haven’t visited him yet.

They always fall back to “Russian isn’t a race so it’s totally okay to be prejudiced!”. Which about tracks for the level of humanity they can muster,

  • Their proposed solution is to displace not only the Palestinians but also the Soqotri people. Why destroy only one people when you can do two instead? Yemen apparently gets no say in the matter either?

The Soqotri are already dealing with issues stemmed from displacement and immigration to the island. The Soqotri language, very unfortunately, is in danger as it is. Not a lot of speakers anymore to my knowledge. Notably it is NOT a variant of Arabic.

  • It is far faster to count the wars that the US has actually won than those they have lost. And if you pare that down to wars they won on their own merits, it is almost nothing.

But I guess all of those don't count because of internal conflicts? Wonder if they should maybe do something about that.

  • I am not going to say you can't find love while involved in a political party, the best relationships I have had (including my current longterm one) all came about incidentally while involved in something else. But maybe that shouldn't really be something the party is spending time focusing on.

That aside, the terminology they are using is...really bad, both ways. Especially if you think identifying as a trot is a good thing.

  • US speedrunning driving their economy into the ground. I would be curious to see if this is just a momentary blip or actually some kind of long running sanction.

There are so many things I get from China that I would be missing out on if I were in the US. Nevermind the most simple things like care packages for people living overseas.
