The Xbox everywhere strategy is doing well.
If you’re looking for some solid evidence that Microsoft’s strategy to bring Xbox games to PS5 is seeing some early success, look no further than Sony’s own PlayStation Store today. The top preordered games in the US PlayStation Store are Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and Forza Horizon 5, with the $99.99 premium versions of both games proving the most popular.
Resetera posters have noticed it’s the same story in the Canadian PlayStation Store and across a variety of European stores, including France, [Germany](https://store.playstation.com/de-de/c
Ex-ambassadors give warnings over intelligence-sharing with US
One former diplomat tells a parliamentary committee some in the Trump administration have "strange track records".
Four former British ambassadors to the United States have expressed concern about the future of intelligence sharing with the US following the re-election of Donald Trump.
Sir David Manning, who served as ambassador between 2003 and 2007, told a parliamentary committee some of Trump's appointees had "strange track records" which would create a "problem on the intelligence front".
Dame Karen Pierce, who only left the role last month, said intelligence sharing would continue "even if at the top level there might be things we might wish to be circumspect about".
. . .
He said some of the people appointed by Trump to lead intelligence and security could "present some difficulties in terms of their view of us and views of co-operation".

America’s Ukraine pivot --
What will be tested is the proposition that a scaffolding of lies can support the structure for a just and enduring peace in Ukraine — and also deter aggression in other threatened areas in the world, including the Philippines
[...]
Russia ended some 80 years of peace since World War II, the longest break from war on the European mainland in a millennium. But the immediate occasion for the hastily-convened Caucus was the vote on a Ukrainian resolution at the UN General Assembly (UNGA) to condemn Russia’s invasion and demand the immediate, complete and unconditional withdrawal of its military forces from Ukrainian territory — with implications on when peace would return to Europe, for how long, and with what consequences for the rest of the world.
As expected, the non-binding resolution passed, though with a lower margin than in the 2022 voting. What shocked the Caucus was the US joining Russia, Iran, and North Korea, three of the new “Axis of Evil,” in voting against the resolution that its democratic NATO allies supported. Even China, the fourth Axis member, abstained, a

UK forces Apple to provide encrypted data to security agencies—is America next?
FBI Warns iPhone, Android Users—We Want ‘Lawful Access’ To All Your Encrypted Data By Zak Doffman, Contributor. Zak Doffman writes about security, surveillance and privacy. Feb 24, 2025
The furor after Apple removed full iCloud security for U.K. users may feel a long way from American users this weekend. But it’s not — far from it. What has just shocked the U.K. is exactly what the FBI told me it also wants in the U.S. “Lawful access” to any encrypted user data. The bureau’s quiet warning was confirmed just a few weeks ago.
The U.K. news cannot be seen in isolation and follows years of battling between big tech and governments over warranted, legal access to encrypted messages and content to fuel investigations into serious crimes such as terrorism and child abuse.
As I reported in 2020, “it is looking ever more likely that proponents of end-to-end security, the likes of Facebook and Apple, will lose their campaign to maintain user security as a priority.” It has taken five years, b

The Government is coming under renewed pressure over Chinese involvement in a major North Sea wind project.
The Green Volt North Sea farm, due to be Europe’s largest floating offshore wind farm, is a joint venture between a Japanese and an Italian-Norwegian company.
The Treasury has reportedly selected Chinese firm Mingyang Smart Energy to supply wind turbines.
The wind farm will be about 46 miles off the coast of Aberdeenshire and will generate up to 560MW of electricity. The firm says it is aiming for the plant to be operational in 2029.
There are concerns that the Chinese state could switch off the power once the wind farm is operational, or that the platforms could be used as spy sensors.
Liberal Democrat MP for Edinburgh West Christine Jardine said the Governmen

My last day us 31st of Jan, but I'll use my holidays so my last work day is actually 23rd of December. My boss wants me everyday in the office from 9am - our team agreed to start at 10 and by contract I'm only required to be in the office twice a week.
I honestly wanted to do a good job for my last few days in the company, but now I'm more inclined to just go and do nothing all day.
My fear is that he fires me before my final day because that would impact my visa, which he knows of, I think that's why he is forcing that rule on me.
Any ideas? I can take up to 3 sick days and I've used all my holidays already.

Elon Musk to ‘summon MPs to US to explain threats to American citizens’
World’s richest man responds to UK parliamentarians saying they will call him to testify about X’s role in spreading disinformation during riots
Elon Musk has said UK MPs “will be summoned to the United States of America to explain their censorship and threats to American citizens” in a fresh escalation of tensions between the world’s richest man and Labour.
Musk, who has been a fixture at the side of Donald Trump since his re-election as US president, was responding to a Guardian report on Wednesday that the Commons’ science and technology select committee would call him to give evidence in the new year in its inquiry into the spread of harmful content on social media after the August riots.
The committee’s chair, Chi Onwurah, a Labour MP, said she wanted to see how Musk, who owns the X social media platform, “reconciles his promotion of freedom of expression with his promotion of pure disinformation”.

[UK] Last week I had my employment terminated. After 22 months at the company, they dropped me and made me leave in 30 minutes.
I got no reason as to why other than “business decision”.
5 months ago they took on another marketing executive alongside me, as work load was too much for one person. (The role was a lot more than just marketing) I trained this new person and helped them everyday.
I also completely redesigned their website, rebranded their logo & look, created countless new collaterals for sales. Was always a team player and helped out when I could.
I got zero thanks or any real remorse about the decision and when I challenged it was told legal
