Snip:

Israel launched a war of aggression against Iran on 13 June. After more than 24 hours of ceasefire, it is clear – Iran won, Israel lost.

“It wasn’t a decisive defeat for the [Israeli] regime, where it comes to the edge of collapse,” Mohammad Marandi of the University of Tehran told the Dialogue Works channel on Tuesday. “But it was a win for Iran.”

Marandi’s assessment is fair: Israel’s war failed and left Iran stronger. This has enormous implications for Iran, Palestine and the world.

[...]

Although Israel started it, this war advanced that aim. Israel now appears weak, unstable, unsafe to live in and totally reliant on foreign support in a world where it is more hated than ever after nearly two years of its livestreamed genocide in Gaza. Brain drain and capital flight will likely accelerate.

A coalition of human rights groups and solidarity movements from over 32 countries, named “Global March to Gaza”, has departed for Gaza to break the all-out Israeli blockade and put an end to the regime’s genocidal war.

Thousands of activists are participating in the march, planning to reach the Gaza border via the Rafah border crossing with Egypt to express their support for the Palestinians in the war-battered territory.

The participating convoys are scheduled to gather in the Egyptian capital Cairo on June 12, before setting off for the city of el-Arish in northeastern Egypt.

They will then continue on foot to the Rafah border crossing, where protest tents are planned to be set up, according to event organizers.

In Tunisia, hundreds of activists on Monday joined the land convoy heading towards Gaza to break Israel's siege on the Palestinian territory.

It came as Israeli forces attacked Madleen Gaza-bound aid ship and abducted the crew when the vessel was approaching the blocka

Iran has said it will soon start releasing information from a hoard of Israeli nuclear secrets it claims to have obtained, as European countries push for a vote this week on reimposing UN sanctions on Tehran over its nuclear programme.

The unverified claims by Iranian intelligence of a massive leak of Israeli secrets may be designed to turn the focus away from what Iran argues is its own excessively monitored civil nuclear programme.

On Sunday, Iran’s intelligence minister, Esmail Khatib, claimed Tehran had obtained “a vast collection of strategic and sensitive [Israeli] documents, including plans and data on the nuclear facilities”. He added evidence would be released shortly, and implied some of the documentation was linked to Israel’s arrest of two Israeli nationals, Roi Mizrahi and Almog Attias, over alleged spying for Iran.

All bakeries in Gaza have been forced to close down due to Israel’s blockade on food and essentials.

“Bakeries will no longer operate until the [Israeli] occupation opens the crossings and allows the necessary supplies to enter.”

The WFP supports the running of 18 bakeries in the enclave. Their closures will worsen a starvation and malnutrition crisis that has devastated Gaza’s two million residents.

Fear of famine looms after all Gaza bakeries run out of flour amid month-long Israeli blockade

Bakeries in the Gaza Strip shuttered Tuesday after running out of flour and diesel to operate, as a month-long Israeli blockade on food and aid entering the territory remains in place.

Abdel Nasser Al-Ajrami, head of the Bakery Owners Association in the Gaza Strip, said the closure of remaining 19 bakeries — which relied on support from the World Food Program (WFP) — meant there were no more operating bakeries in the territory.

"We call on the world to pressure the [Israeli] occupation to open the crossings to prevent the famine from worsening in the Strip," Al-Ajrami said in a statement.

'Israel' reneged on Gaza ceasefire, US complicit in genocide: Hamas

"Israel" has reneged on the ceasefire agreement, evading its obligations, and continues to commit massacres against the Palestinian people in Gaza, amid a shameful international silence, Hamas affirmed on Tuesday.

In a statement, Hamas said, "The claims made by the [Israeli] occupation regarding preparations by the Resistance to launch an attack on its forces are baseless and are merely false pretexts to justify its return to war and escalate its bloody aggression."

The Palestinian group accused "Israel" of "attempting to mislead public opinion and fabricate false justifications to cover up its premeditated decision to resume its genocidal campaign against defenseless civilians, disregarding any commitments it made."

"Hamas adhered to the agreement until the very last moment and was committed to its continuation," the statement stressed, adding that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, "seeking a way out of his internal crises, preferred to reignite the war at the cost of ou

The Gaza government’s Detainee Media Office has issued a statement slamming what it called "international double standards" in media treatment of Palestinian prisoners freed by Israel as opposed to three Israeli captives released by Hamas in a prisoner exchange on Saturday.

Media reports on Saturday focused on the gaunt and emaciated condition of the three released captives – Eli Sharabi, 52, Eli Levy, 34, and Ohad Ben-Ami, 58.

The Israeli government said that their treatment by Hamas was "a crime against humanity", with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is himself wanted by the International Criminal Court for war crimes, threatening that their condition would “not pass without a response”.

The Israeli health ministry said that the released captives had suffered severe malnutrition.

However, the Detainee Media Office pointed out that dozens of Palestinian detainees had died as a result of malnutrition, abuse, and medical neglect in Israeli prisons without any internat

Two UN peacekeepers in Lebanon have been wounded by Israeli fire, the mission said on Thursday, as Israel's military ground operations in the country continued.

In a statement, the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (Unifil) said two of its members were wounded after a Merkava tank fired towards an observation tower at Unifil headquarters in Naqoura, "directly hitting it and causing them to fall".

"[Israeli] soldiers also fired on UN position (UNP) 1-31 in Labbouneh, hitting the entrance to the bunker where peacekeepers were sheltering, and damaging vehicles and a communications system," said the peacekeeping mission.

"An IDF drone was observed flying inside the UN position up to the bunker entrance."

Israeli attacks in Lebanon over the past month, including a bombing campaign and ground invasion, have killed over 1,200 people and displaced one million.

A spokesperson for Palestine Action said the manifestations of independence were contradicted within the same sentences in which they were made.

"What's going on behind closed doors demonstrates clear evidence of collusion between government, a foreign private arms manufacturer, the CPS, the Attorney General's Office and the police," they said. "This clear abuse of power shows how the state is prioritising the interests of Elbit Systems over the rights and freedoms of its own citizens."

Documents previously revealed through FoI requests suggested Israeli embassy officials in London attempted to get the Attorney General's Office to intervene in UK court cases relating to the prosecution of protesters.

The Resistance group said it targeted the Kiryat Shmona settlement with a barrage of rockets, resulting in fires according to Israeli media. Firefighting teams were dispatched to the area in an attempt to extinguish the fires.

Hezbollah also struck the Meggido military airbase west of Afula - north of Jenin - three times throughout the early hours of the day with salvos of Fadi 1 and Fadi 2 rockets.

Additionally, in a strategic operation, the Resistance announced targeting with Fadi rockets the Israeli base, which is the Israeli occupation army's main transport and logistical support base for the northern region.

Furthermore, the group targeted the logistical warehouses of the Israeli 146th Brigade at the Naftali base. A northern correspondent for the Israeli i24NEWS confirmed that Hezbollah had hit "a very large weapons depot and a logistical center belonging to the [Israeli] army," noting ongoing efforts to extinguish the fires around the targeted site.

A new investigation by Amnesty International reveals Israeli forces failed to take all feasible precautions to avoid or minimise harm to civilians sheltering at camps for internally displaced people while carrying out two attacks targeting Hamas and Islamic Jihad commanders and fighters in the south of the occupied Gaza Strip in May. These attacks likely were indiscriminate, and one attack likely also disproportionate. Both attacks should be investigated as war crimes

Hamas and Islamic Jihad fighters were located in the IDP camp, a location which displaced people believed was a designated “humanitarian zone,” knowingly endangering the lives of civilians. Their choice of location in both IDP camps likely violated the obligation to avoid, to the extent feasible, locating fighters in densely populated areas. Amnesty International has no information regarding the reason or motivations for their presence, but all parties to the conflict should have taken all feasible precautions to pro

Noa Argamani, an Israeli woman freed from Hamas captivity in Gaza in June, said on Friday that her injuries were caused by an Israeli air strike during her rescue operation, not by a Hamas attack.

Speaking to diplomats from G7 countries in Tokyo on Wednesday, Argamani detailed her ordeal after she was taken captive by Palestinian armed groups during the 7 October attack. However, two days later, she issued a statement on Instagram, saying that some of her remarks had been misquoted and taken out of context.

Contrary to some Israeli media reports, Argamani clarified that she was not beaten or had her hair shaved by Palestinian fighters.

"[Hamas members] did not hit me while I was in captivity, nor did they cut my hair; I was injured by the collapse of a wall caused by an [Israeli] Air Force pilot," she added.

Hamas accuses Israel of trying to evade negotiations

A member of the Hamas political bureau has accused Israel of trying to evade negotiations for a ceasefire and prisoner exchange. Husam Badran added on Wednesday that the occupation regime is trying to distract attention from this obvious fact.

“We are keen to reach an agreement to stop the war, and our communication with the mediators continues,” explained Badran. “We exchanged some ideas with the mediators aiming to stop the war and agree on a comprehensive [Israeli] withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.”

He noted that the “enemy” knows that putting pressure on the movement’s leadership and constant threats is of no use. “We are the party most keen to end the war, and we are most concerned with achieving the basic demands of our people, upon which there is a national consensus.” The Hamas official also accused the Biden and earlier administrations in Washington of being “completely biased” in favour of the occupation state.

The New York Times cited officials on Tuesday, and said that Qat

The current president may well lose as Democratic support from key constituencies disintegrates due to his ongoing arming of Israel in the midst of its genocidal campaign against Palestinians in Gaza.

Netanyahu, though unpopular in Israel – even if not for pursuing genocide in Gaza – could put off elections for two years, a fact that motivated Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer to call in a 14 March speech for “a new [Israeli] election once the war starts to wind down.”

The president’s recalcitrance is ripping the Democratic Party apart as young people, Arab Americans and Muslim Americans want nothing to do with a party they see arming Israel to destroy a destitute, refugee population.

Trump asserted in an interview posted online on 18 March that “any Jewish person that votes for Democrats hates their religion.” He added, “They hate everything about Israel, and they should be ashamed of themselves because Israel will be destroyed.”

Hamas militant group has started a war that 'Israel will win,' defense minister says

Israel's defense minister announced that the Hamas militant group has started a war against Israel and pledged that "Israel will win.”

Following a security cabinet meeting at the Israeli military headquarters in Tel Aviv, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant warned that Hamas “made a grave mistake” in launching barrages of rockets into southern and central Israel in its surprise morning attack.

In one of the most serious escalations in years between Israel and the militant group that rules Gaza, Hamas gunmen crossed the border fence at several places and infiltrated Israeli communities.
