Introduction

At a high level, the process to make a basic high quality GIF is just:

1. Import a video into a video editor
2. Place some text over it
3. Save it as a video file
4. Convert it to an animated image file

Simple enough. Most high quality GIFs are just video clips with fancy captions them. But the video editing software that is used to make them can be rather complex to wrap your mind around as a beginner. Editors have a whole lot of options available to you right away, which can be intimidating. Which buttons do you actually need to press?
