Learning Arabic been one of my goals lately, at the very least I want to be able to read. Unfortunately, I don't have much time for it and I must prioritize other languages for career purposes (Portuguese is one of them). I do have my own copy of the Qur'an in Arabic, and I have it in a place where I see it every day, it's constantly reminding me of my goals.
I find Islamic and Arabic culture and history quite fascinating too, more reasons to learn their language :turtle-pogger: And I know I can do it, I learned English on my own basically, trial and error, even though my native language is Spanish.

Do I have to un-quit studying arabic AGAIN? There's just so much vocab, even if you stick to MSA. The grammar is consistent which is nice, but memorizing all the different masdars for different forms of a verb just seems impossible. Maybe this time I'll do better though :inshallah-script:
- How comfortable are you with verb forms?
  
  I can recite the roots of form 1-10 with no problem. My first few years were all Classical Arabic, translating the Quran and some al-Ghazali using dictionaries. Classical dictionaries have definitions for masdar's though so I didn't internalize the meanings much.

Obligatory :fedposting: in an Arabic class. Out of curiosity, does the script account for the various different dialects of Arabic that are often mutually unintelligible?
- They all use the same script but there might be a slight difference in the pronunciation of certain letters between some dialects.
  
  Just speak Darija (Moroccan) and you don't have to pronounce like 40% of all the letters. It's like the worst parts of Arabic and French had a bastard child made out entirely of discarded parts.
