Politics, disinformation and stupidity

The amount of people who refuse to do research, look up anything at all or educate themselves will be the downfall of our society. I cannot understand why anyone still believes or spreads complete misinformation when most people have internet access. This recently was relevant with the outrage over a man with tourettes saying a racial slur, while the topic itself is nuanced; the one thing that isnt is how with tourettes its an involuntary tic caused by neurons misfiring. I also believed most people know what tourettes is, but thousands of people believe he must have secretly wanted to say, he said it because he said it before, is racist etc. Going as far as saying people like him shouldnt leave the house or get their tongue cut out. Yes of course you cant know something you just dont know; but this reactionary behaviour is just bad for everyone. Additionally a lot of people straight up refused to believe / change their mind when others told them how Tourettes works and why it isn’t voluntary whatsoever. If we dont work on education and teaching people that they do not know everything and that learning is a vital part of life that shouldn’t be rejected we will all succumb to stupidity and hatred.
