Roshi Joan Halifax on Standing at the Edge

Roshi Joan Halifax on Standing at the Edge

A conversation with Roshi Joan Halifax Ph.D., a Buddhist teacher, Zen priest, anthropologist and pioneer in the field of end-of-life care.

Always found the compassion and empathy discussion interesting. Paul Bloom I think makes a good case for adjusting our knee jerk reaction to empathy as inarguably virtuous. Empathy is good in small doses but letting oneself be manipulated or drained because of it is counterproductive. Nice to see a Buddhist teacher talk about it too.
