Clive Palmer fails in second attempt to overturn $6.5 billion coal mine refusal

The businessman has dropped his second appeal against a $6.5 billion coal mine being blocked over “unacceptable climate change impacts.”

I don't understand what motivates people like this. He's worth $2 Billion. He has more money than he can hope to spend in his lifetime. Why does he want to go opening coal mines in the first place?
He could retire in luxury and just do whatever he wanted.
- He doesn't just want money; he wants all of the money.
- I'm guessing he doesn't have many friends.. So, what else would he do?
