I sometimes check A People's Calendar to see what kind of events in history I might have missed, but I always thought it was strange that the events themselves were not available in some other accessible way. So in poking around their github page I was able to pull all the current events into a JSON object. I plan on taking that data and turning it into a .ICS file so it can be imported into your calendar software of choice.

I've been kinda really wanting a place here where we can share stuff like this, I love spending a few hours building projects.
I'd share some of mine, but all my projects are linked directly to my real name and place of work lol.
We also don't use the codeblocks here enough, they're actually really pretty
- Lol I made this github account explicitly for that reason. I guess we could post that stuff here in tech, if it gets busy enough we can think about petitioning for a code comm.
  I def want to make cool stuff with comrades. I have a lot of learning to do. Most of my coding experience is tied up in powershell scripts sadly. I'd love to get really into rust and I should get better at python since its so useful and popular.

  Also for the learning Python, I'd be happy to help on that front. I've been using it basically every day for almost 6 years now. I really do like it. Especially for the metaprogramming aspect. Once you set up a class that overloads operators properly and implements a data protocol, it all kinda clicks.
  Comprehensions are also one of the most amazing language features ever. I used them in that little script, one just acts like a for loop and mutates the calendar (because it's not assigned, it's garbage collected as soon as the function ends).
  The second one is in the final main script that writes the ical, a generator expression creates a pointer to the loaded data and passes one object at a time to the Record constructor and immediately consumes it to generate the iCal Event.
  
  Had a hell of a day today. No work or play for me. I will set up an org tomorrow. There is a Hexbear Collective on github which has the fork of the UI we run, mostly for the tech admins of the site. Gotta brainstorm an org name.

  I probably do, I thought you did some programming. Though SQL is like probably the most important programming language in history. Everything else is just "how do I write SQL without having the write SQL"

  OK got this set today. I'll whip up a org logo tomorrow now that my life should be more stable LOL. Between kids being sick and dishwasher people standing me up its been a silly couple of days.

  I can send you an invite to the org so you can upload stuff. I don't have solid plans for the org yet. I don't known if the bots on the site live on github anywhere, but it would be cool to at least keep a fork of them there.
  
  I've followed the group with an old burner account, is say it would be a good place for documentation (e.g how to use Linux), maybe store some of the emotes in a repo, or just forking other leftist projects and helping to maintain them
