    How to play deleted Twitch VODs - Firefox / Chrome w uBlock Origin

    Figured I'd share this guide on Lemmy as well.

    NOTE! / LIMITATIONS!

    You need to save the m3u8 URL BEFORE the VOD actually gets deleted. Otherwise there is no way of knowing the URL to the server CDN. The uptime for VODs on the CDN can be from 1 day to several weeks depending on the server settings.

    1. Open logger while you have the VOD open and playing.
    2. Search m3u8 and refresh the page
    3. Copy the URL on the right side in the search results
    4. Paste the URL into VLC after selecting "Media -> Open network stream" or any other supported m3u8 playlist stream player.

    Twitch uses some sort of obfuscation so this doesn't always work as easily but it still works fine on other streaming platforms like Kick.

    1. Right click stream in Chrome or Firefox

    Twitch is introducing a new “Partner Plus” program that will give streamers an increased 70 percent of the share of their subscription revenues, with Twitch taking the other 30 percent, the company announced on Thursday. Most partnered streamers receive 50 percent of their subscription revenues, though Twitch had negotiated 70 / 30 deals with some of the platform’s biggest streamers until recently.

    Streamers will need to keep a sub count of at least 350 “recurring paid subscriptions for three consecutive months” to qualify for the program, Twitch’s chief monetization officer Mike Minton and chief content officer Laura Lee said in the company’s blog post. Once you meet that benchmark, the execs say you’ll be automatically enrolled for the next 12 months, “even if you dip below the subscription threshold during the 12-month period.” (Free subscriptions given to Amazon Prime members do not count toward qualifying for the Partner Plus tier, according to an FAQ.)
