Remove All American Media And Culture From Your Life
Anti-imperialist comm to help you in your personal journey of cultural anti-imperialism.
American culture has spread all over the world, it has dumbed down and impoverished our variegated pre-colonial and non-capitalist cultures. Every time you yank yourself, a bit of their culture worms its way into your mind. Sometimes it's explicit propaganda like Top Gun, but sometimes it's subtle: the contempt shown for the poor, the celebration of selfishness, the value-system of their empire.
All inputs enter the mind, are absorbed, and blossom as thoughts and deeds. Mass-produced culture dulls you and makes you a boring, mass-produced personality. And nations are losing their personality by letting one imperial power do this to them.
That the empire is doing this as a more-or-less deliberate tool of influence doesn't need stressing.
Stop doing this to yourself. Don't watch their television. Don't watch their films. Don't read their st
Anybody up for watching the 1987 Soviet crime film "Assa" with me on Blorptube @ 11 PM CET / 5 PM EDT?

The total runtime is about two-and-a-half hours, split into two parts. There are two official YouTube uploads of the film — one which splits the two parts into different videos, and one which stitches them together into one video. I figure it's probably best to go for the two-video upload so we can stretch our legs and take a leak at the intermission.
Plot description from IMDb: ASSA is set in Crimea during the winter in 1980. A young musician (Bananan) falls for a mobster's (Krymov) young mistress (Alika). The parallel story line involves a 19th Century assassination plot.
I can also mention that this movie has a lot of musical numbers and experimental scenes, and is often looked at as a turning point for perestroika and rock music's position in Soviet popular culture.
Content warnings for I guess age gap romance, there's some very brief man ass in one scene, there's murder and ot

Non-American Animation
Hi. I am an animation fan looking for some animation that is not from the United States to watch. Preferably something from Europe or Asia (not Japan).
If anyone has any ideas, let me know.
A man moves in with his employer’s widow in this playful but dreamlike and inscrutable drama from Alain Guiraudie, the director of Stranger By the Lake

Writer-director Alain Guiraudie must surely now be said to match Quentin Dupieux for the weirdest sense of humour in French cinema. But is comedy exactly what is happening here? Because this has to be one of the strangest films of the year – or the most deadpan of deadpan in-jokes. At one point, I thought I saw the performer playing a police officer almost laugh, but perhaps every single actor here was on the verge of cracking up throughout the shoot. It could be that every time Guiraudie yelled “Cut” everyone burst out laughing.
You could also call Misericordia queer cinema, with the word “queer” also working in its non-sexual sense. Guiraudie made his international breakthrough with his 2013 film Stranger By the Lake, but it’s now clear that the seriousness and vehemence of that psychosexual drama are atypical of the director’s real instincts, which are towards waywardness and playfulness and unreadable, inscrutable mis
No Yankcent playlist
Not sure if this is relevant here.
My tolerance for people faking a US accent when they sing has declined over the years, so a while back I started making a Spotify playlist with tracks where the (usually native English-speaker) vocalist sings in English with their real accent instead of a fake US one. And I called it "No Yankcent".
Maybe people have some tracks they can suggest.
