I stumbled across this article and agree, monero.town should not be associated with Cloudflare either. Maybe the operator can replace it by using Arweave?
If you use a password that has more than 60 characters, everything that exceeds these 60 characters is cut off by the Monero.Town UI. Without informing the user. I found this out by trial and error when logging in with my slightly longer password didn't work. I found no indication of what password criteria or limitations Monero.Town has.
Monero.Town isn't registered on lemmy-federate, adding it to the tool will keep the xmr communities available on instances that use lemmy-federate, and even allow new communities to be autoadded.
I was coming here less and less often since the DDOS because Jerboa wasn't working anymore to show posts from here.
It seems to be working now. Is the ddos over and the annoying cloudflare captcha (this is the ddos protection that was causing issues with the mobile apps) gone?
Otherwise I was going to suggest a kuno so that the admins can implement something better.
Some of my friends are going against me because "you're monero shiller always pessimic".
OK, but guys. I could be happy to see gains in my wallet.
But seeing all these non-sense with brc/ordinals/ETFs & one of my friends extradited to the US, I simply can't feel right.
I tried to warn them about if they had samourai XPUB leaked coins, they should have swapped them for monero and get back for a bigger UTXO.
And yet again I'm called of 'shitcoiner', but if it's to see them in jail the next year.
I can't mentally profit of life by seeing people going out of my life trough prison & suicides.
I even started to take benzos to calm down dark toughts.
In about 50 days the 1 year hosting runs out for the current server. Fitting, since it has only a 100 GB disk that can't easily be expanded and we currently take up about 40 GB of that.
There will be an announcement post once everything has been prepared for the migration and I'll attempt to restore the entire instance on the new server. Ideally the instance should come back up after minimal downtime and all the content remains exactly like it was before.
Consider joining the matrix channel to stay up to date even while the site is potentially down :)
For some reason posts on our instance have recently gotten more downvotes from outside instances than usual and many posts look like this:
I personally don't like the idea of disabling downvotes but if the feature is mostly going to be used by outside users because crypto is "le bad" we might as well turn it off.
The instance is now over half a year old and so far we've experience decent growth and minimal downtime.
I'm quite happy with it. Even though most content is still on r/Monero, we do get a handful of posts every week.
Since this was primarily set up as a fallback for the subreddit without any spam/scam bots thanks to strict whitelisting I think the initial goal has been more than fulfilled :)
I was posting on other instances (lemmy.world) and checked their modlog to make sure I'm not banned or defederated. Know most people here probably just follow Monero news, so it's fine if it's better to for me to just make an account on a larger instance.
Anyways, it's been a while since I've seen a meta discussion. How have you all been this year, and what do you all think of the fediverse from these past six months?
I made one post, that's it. I never wanted to mod that community and never agreed to it. It seems like the original mod appointed me somehow and then left?
If anyone is interested in modding this very quiet community please speak up, otherwise I'll close it by end of year.
