Does anyone know how to prevent this? It doesn't lose as much colour if I just screenshot it. But even the screenshot on the left is still slightly more muted than the original photo. I appreciate you taking time to respond. If you can't or don't know what this is, that's okay too.
Hi, this shows up in my profile, but not in the actual community. I don't want to post it again, because 2 posts are hard to control. I'm not positive of what's going on.
Since the update, the local image mirror for federated images seems to be broken. The default web client however still tries to load the full-resolution images from the local mirror, leading to requests to the local mirror returning the default broken-image image. Please either fix the local mirror or have the web client load the federated images directly.
I've slowly become familiar with lemmy and learned the things like blahajj is an ally of trans but hides downvotes and kbin shows how you vote to others etcetc. i don't even know what hexbear is but hear it's ideologically wonky.
Lots of Lemmy instances basically have some decent aspects, but then something about them is a total dealbreaker.
I've started looking at moderation histories when coming across content removed by moderators and am now able to distinguish instances where ideologies not aligned with their admins get censored. I first noticed it when checking why certain posts were removed on Lemmy.ml and had to research lemmy.ml to understand they purposely are a socialist communist niche community so they basically remove content they don't want. I had a run in with a drama on Lemmy.world and curiously checked their mod log to realize that they actually quite often remove comments that don't match their ideology (along with finding controversial historical actions of .wo
As the title says in both sync and boost I can no longer see number of upvotes on this instance, I logged into my Lemmy world account and I can see upvotes. Was there an update/change recently?
Just a midly interesting post about how I can't connect here on my work network anymore. So I took the time to use a bit more mbin, I like the clean interface, the better integration with Mastodon. However, the bad image integration and their own version of markdown is kinda frustrating. May-be I'll create an alt on piefed and an extra lemmy account.
I still get an error if I try to upload a picture larger than the upload size limit:
{"data":{"files":null,"msg":"Too many pixels"},"state":"success"}
From the comments in the previous thread, it seems like implementing automatic image compression is contingent on a newer version of pict-rs, maybe? There was mention of a test instance, but I'm not sure if anything came of that.
Is there any progress which has been or could be made on this front?
I think that this is feature especially important for onboarding new users, who might not be aware of the upload size limit and just think “Lemmy doesn’t work, I guess I’ll go back to Reddit”.
Hello all, it is with a heavy heart that I must admit that I have become the drama that I always sought to avoid for this server. In this case, I could easily let sleeping dogs lie, but I'm somewhat exhausted and I don't really see the point of continuing here if there isn't some semblance of justice or rational thought to be found. More to the point, if Lemmy continues to display outright hostility and toxicity towards Americans at every turn, there is virtually no chance that this platform will ever develop beyond its current fringe status.
Although this server is based in Canada, I think we probably have a good number of Americans, and also despite recent events I think Canadians and Americans are fairly similar and have historically gotten along quite well with one another. I'm curious if a more diverse array of people will find any value in my actions, or if I'm truly just shouting into the wind. Strap in, because this is gonna be a long one.
