Hi all! My name is Rainer and I am the publisher of a local news site called The Langley Union (https://langleyunion.ca/). I have become a mod for this community with the goal of revitalizing it to be a lively and dependably updated platform for those of us who live here.
There were people posting here before, but it seems to have fallen off and I'd like to revamp the efforts to make a local fedi-space for folks in our community.
#The Langley Union and the Fediverse
One of my main goals for The Langley Union (which is a higher priority than monetization at this point) is to foster a local news environment that is capable of distributing consistent, independent news that prioritizes progressive voices and perspectives. That is currently manifesting itself in my personal site (LangleyUnion.ca), but it's important that our community has a platform beyond my own Ghost blog. Hence, taking on mod responsibilities here on Lemmy.
