Measure 110 was supposed to focus on “a drug addiction treatment and recovery program funded in part by the state’s marijuana tax revenue and state prison savings” but — surprise! — hasn’t followed through. There is simply no way to make drugs legal without aggressive treatment for addicts. And by “aggressive,” I do mean forcibly locking up, committing, and treating addicts who can’t or won’t take care of themselves. That means rounding the addicts up off the streets and detoxing them before they kill themselves — and/or others.

New research from geospatial data company Alcis suggests that poppy production has already plummeted by around 80% since last year. Indeed, satellite imagery shows that in Helmand Province, the area that produces more than half of the crop, poppy production has dropped by a staggering 99%. Just 12 months ago, poppy fields were dominant. But Alcis estimates that there are now less than 1,000 hectares of poppy growing in Helmand.
JOE’S EVIL “ALLIANCE FOR PROSPERITY” — GEN. JOHN KELLY HELPED
Joe Biden, through this boondoggle, self-promotional “alliance” lined the pockets of murderous drug dealers and human traffickers throughout the Northern Triangle — Honduras , Guatemala, and El Salvador — from 2014 to 2016 for what American taxpayers were told was “combating corruption and upholding the rule of law.”
Given the disastrous policies now enacted along our Southern Border, does any reasonable American believe that $1.5 billion for the Alliance for Prosperity ($500 million to Orlando Hernández in Honduras) was used as intended?
We saw 3 thefts right in front of us.

What Happened When Oregon Decriminalized Hard Drugs
By a 17-point margin, Oregonians approved Ballot Measure 110, which eliminated criminal penalties for possessing small amounts of any drug, including cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine. When the policy went into effect early the next year, it lifted the fear of prosecution for the state’s drug users and launched Oregon on an experiment to determine whether a long-sought goal of the drug-policy reform movement—decriminalization—could help solve America’s drug problems.
Last year, the state experienced one of the sharpest rises in overdose deaths in the nation and had one of the highest percentages of adults with a substance-use disorder. During one two-week period last month, three children under the age of 4 overdosed in Portland after ingesting fentanyl.

The never-ending coke issues of the Joe Biden family and administration from hell have produced another infamous chapter.

Legalize All Drugs, Yes or No?
I'm kind of for legalizing all drugs, slowly, while also putting in place societal infrastructure for discouraging the abuse of drugs and to help people who become addicts.
I can elaborate on further reasons for legalization of drugs if requested; it is not however a top priority to me as a policy issue so I don't focus on it as much for that reason.
What do you think about drug legalization or criminalization?
Pop star and actor Jennifer Lopez was slammed by fans after posting a video to social media promoting her alcohol brand, Delola, and talking about her drinking habits while being married to Ben Affleck, who has struggled with alcoholism.
Is she saying Ben drank it?
“I left the house early to go sneak out and get some Delola. We have s few people coming over for the holiday weekend, and I realize that we don’t have any. I thought we would, but we don’t. So, I’m going to go to the store and get some,” Lopez said in a video posted to her Instagram.

Hunter, I can tell you, was at the White House on Friday, leaving with his father for Camp David. Sadly, he may have forgotten his party favors, which is unfortunate. Imagine having to hang out with Joe Biden for or four days sober. Now THAT’S a long weekend.

America's "psychedelic revolution" kicked off during the Covid pandemic when the government locked down the economy, forcing people to stay home with nothing to do. In pre-Covid times, only 5.1% of young people aged 19-30 used psychedelic drugs. But as soon as lockdowns began, the figure jumped to 7.6% by 2020 and 8.1% by 2021. Since 2011, the use of psychedelics by young people has more than doubled, according to a study by the University of Michigan and Columbia University.
Why is there such a big thing about prescription opioids when the addiction rate in less than 1% for those who have been prescribed for pain?
cross-posted from: https://lemmy.world/post/266941
Is it really just because of the fentanyl situation? I know there is a huge disagreement with how the strict rules for prescribing opioids are so tight even for chronic pain patients like myself who can’t participate in life without em struggle to find a provider who is willing to prescribe us them.
Law could see Australians jailed for three years for posting what’s deemed ‘offensive’ on Facebook
Should we just go ahead and give free needles and free crack pipes to everyone in America? After all, if New York City and Los Angeles plan to solve their raging drug problems by handing out free drug paraphernalia to addicts, perhaps we can solve our nationwide drug crisis the same way. ...

Queensland’s Labor government has introduced a bill that would dramatically increase the maximum prison sentence for racist, anti-gay, anti-trans or seriously bigoted statements.
Making such statements already carry a maximum six-month jail term, but that would be increased to three years under the new bill.

The companies run more than 90% of the nation’s drug and medical supply chain and have been accused of allowing the proliferation and abuse of prescription opioids.
The companies failed for more than a decade to track suspicious orders or increases in opioid use among purchasers, despite likely criminal activity from some physicians in overprescribing the drugs.
