Help Others @lemmy.blahaj.zone EnthusiasticNature94 @lemmy.blahaj.zone I've scheduled 2 hours every 2nd Monday of the month to work on this community
As some of you know, I've been busy with starting my own non-profit. Despite my busy-ness, I've committed to a minimum of 2 hours per month. This is the minimum, and I will work on this community during my spare time.
Stay tuned for an update by May 11th, 2025. Thank you all for your support and kind words. 🥺

Help Others @lemmy.blahaj.zone Omega @discuss.online No motivation to find work but I still want to work
I am a developer and I have worked as an intern in the past, which wasn't a big deal, but now I want to find new opportunities and it's daunting, making programs to show off on GitHub is much easier than to, like, be overwhelmed by the calls, the resumes, the interviews, I almost feel like I am going to get blacklisted from a company if I do bad and that KILLS my motivation if I had any
It's difficult to even start so I've just been procrastinating by telling myself I'll make a resume after I'm done with a project, and I'm never done with a project, and if I do have a resume, I'm too scared, lazy, or can't find a place to send it too
Maybe I should try finding a really lazy method, or maybe I should use a fake name to see how it goes, but I don't feel much confident even then, is there any way to gamify this damned process? What a mess.

testing the brain for infections is not something most doctors will do unless you really make them.
this is about how some (many) bipolar disorder can be caused or made worse by infections within the brain, this is something almost no doctor will test for without being prompted to do so, but involved a metagenetic analysis taken from a spinal tap and does not sound fun
The takeaway: it’s imperative to test for these pathogens in any psychiatric disorder especially schizophrenia and bipolar disorders.

in the past doctores didn't think the blood-brain barier could allow this but lots of new research says that when you get viral i -

not getting enough vitamin d3 which is different than vitamin D and is not normally tested for by hospitals. Unless you are taking these supplements then it's almost certain that you are deficient, and the effects of that are that you get sick more often, stay sick longer, don't feel as happy, and that your brain neurons cannot adequately 'heal' after trauma. This 'sunlight vitamin' has a host of effects on your mood, brain, and immune system. take 5000iu (125mg) of D3 each day, and you should too.
Here is some research to highlight some of these aspects that seem applicable here. These are things you can begin doing right now that will only make things better in the future. You may notice the helpful effects in only a few

TMS
I've had some TMS work done on me, for experiments and not treatment, but it is a way to activate parts of your brain with a magnet, so you can jump start neuron pathways and this can lead to you establishing and strengthening those pathways which can literally change your mind, your outlook, and as a result your life. You sit somewhere for 30 minutes once every week or few days for a few months and then it's like you're much better. Keep in mind though that. you need those supplements too, everyone does.

Hiaguya
here is some more directed infohe evidence overwhelmingly says the same things will help someone with bi-polar disorders.
I'm sorry that there is so much here, but if you plan to read it like a book one chapter or page at a time and not try to blast through the whole thing it might be easier. These are the easiest things you can do right now to improve your outlook going forward, if you want to then talk to your doctor about this before starting then please do, better yet print off this sheet and take it to the doctor and get their opinion on it.
If you are willing to try some more things that might (and very likely will) help facilitate the ability of your brain to heal then I have a few mor

Help Others @lemmy.blahaj.zone ev1lchris @lemm.ee Never Been Good with the Real World
I have never been good at making money or having a job.
I have been on SSDI for Major Depression the last 20 years and have had multiple hospitalizations for wanting to off myself.
I feel quite worthless and useless. I have been trying to get a job for the past 5 years or so. I have had some success with a couple of internships but nothing real.
Now I am outside the country and the home I was living in is being sold and I am being ordered to vacate. I'm not even in the country yet so I might be losing all my personal possessions.
I really don't know what to do. I am thinking of ending my life. I don't even know where to go for treatment.

Help Others @lemmy.blahaj.zone foosedev @lemmy.world Visited Thailand now I am homeless
I really do hope people are going to read this.
I was living in my mother's house in Hawaii. I went to Thailand for a bit and a water pump broke and flooded an area.
We needed to shut off the electricity urgently.
People who have come to the house have said the refrigerator is full of maggots and the house has toxic black mold.
My mom got a second opinion from a realtor and now she's selling the house.
So I wanted to go to Thailand for a bit and now I'm homeless. I have my clothes, computers, and musical instruments there and I'm probably going to lose them.
I'm so depressed I honestly feel like ending my life. I'm on Lexapro and have been hospitalized several times. I don't know what to do.
My mom will barely speak to me.

Help Others @lemmy.blahaj.zone EnthusiasticNature94 @lemmy.blahaj.zone How to rise out of poverty and achieve financial independence
This guide assumes you are starting at the absolute bottom. Skip the steps that aren't applicable to you.
1. Find resources while homeless:
Research: Unfortunately, no research has been done on any programs at scale. Some 'housing first' organizations have shown promise, but there's very few across the country.
2. Find funded training for certifications in well-paying fields. (Varies by location.)
2a. Visit https://www.careeronestop.org/FindTraining/find-training.aspx
2b. Under 'Find Local Training', put your zip code and distance from the training program, then search.
2c. Check the box for 'WIOA-certified training programs only'.
2d. Some common certifications/sectoral jobs that MIGHT be well-paying (Varies by location. A lot. Choose a

Help Others @lemmy.blahaj.zone EnthusiasticNature94 @lemmy.blahaj.zone How to succeed in life (according to research)
1. Explore different interests before focusing on one.
- Correct: Trying chess, trying basketball, taking an open online computer science course, cooking something new, trying tennis, learn how to draw your first digital art, learn the basics of competitive Street Fighter, attempt your first speedrun of a Trauma Center game, etc.
- Wrong: Deciding you want to be a chess grandmaster WITHOUT exploring anything else first.
- Research: https://characterlab.org/tips-of-the-week/sample-then-specialize/
2. Choose your Ultimate Goal in Life™.
- Correct: After exploring several interests, you discover that you are persistently passionate about becoming a content creator.
- Wrong: Graduating college (which is a great goal, but one that leads to your top-level goal).
- Wrong: Getting 1 million Twitch subscribers (this might be an 'end goal', but your ultimate goal should be a journey, not a destination).
