  • Technically KeePass can "merge" and has some sort of conflict resolution, but you're right that forgotten and unaddressed conflicts can lay around for unlimited time without you noticing. It's the main problem with keepass + syncthing.

  • It's a bit sad that you're downvoted so hard. You obviously have good intentions, just not having a good grasp yet if I may be frank. The solutions in this post are what you should follow IMO. In short, USB thumb/hdd drives with your important data. Encrypt the whole USB if your devices are under Linux if you wish. Use a proper password manager like KeePass to secure it additionally, with a strong master password of course.

  • Darn, first I see something fun and interesting, and then I read that the hardware is no longer for sale (available only to the original backers). Uh-oh.

Well, OK I guess. Maybe they'll be selling again once they start shipping.

  • I have never had a TikTok account. Occasionally people send links, and those work just fine in the web browser

FYI, they work even better with yt-dlp 'YOUR_URL'It's not a silver bullet as yt-dlp also relies on people's hard work, so generally I'm absolutely not on the platform either. Downloading from TikTok only happens once in half a year maybe.

  • While I appreciate the well thought out comment, I can't help but note that they should've used the Transporter Room since you were around!

  • I mean my message as a joke. The idea of "Desire Paths" is that you note how people work, frequently against "rules", when they simply walk around on grass. Above I disagree with @merde@sh.itjust.works's point about the safety of this street, because in my mind, if the desire path is as on the picture, then there are good reasons for it to be this case. I then go on and suggest to embrace it and not consider the street so safe maybe.

Actually re-reading my message, I think I'm wa-a-ay too aggressive and pushy. The OP just notes his opinion, and their message wasn't mandating that it's the truth and the final truth. I guess I should be more chill

  • If you know the details of this war, you know that the Russian military is not driven by "motivation". Instead, it's beatings, threats of death, humiliation etc.

  • Wrong question. It doesn't matter who was "first".

If the first group stops, the problem is gone.If the second group stops, the problem is not gone but likely growing.

  • Especially to not get hit by cars.

  • Fully agree on this one 🤝The feedback loop is real and powerful

  • I'm not. As I said, I think people have varying degrees of education. I'm not separating between "us" and "them" in terms of education. I don't make generalised statements of what happens on a global scale without good research into the subject either.

But simple things such as "we need to make education a social priority" is within my reach.

  • but people are uneducated

So you're not? OK, as you say.

I'm not subscribing to such statements, personally. I see varying levels of education around, and I see my job as educating when I can, learning when I can.

  • Or instead of raising the voting question (also known as non-democracy, only-whites-can-vote etc), maybe better agree on the importance of accessible education. Such as, a well funded school system, free or cheap non-corporate universities etc.

  • ... And with this in mind, do you discourage people with this attitude from buying the cybertrack, or rather encourage?...

Dilemma, I guess. Most of us want neither the dumm looking trucks nor the attitude.

  • Mike: rachel and i are no longer dating

rachel: mike that's a horrible way of telling people we're married

  • TL&DR: Rust is officially adopted, and thus no longer experimental.

  • It's actually a mistake done in a hurry, according to a comment by the author of the post below.

  • For the security aspect, I've skimmed through the code, it seems the "building blocks" that they are using (security primitives) are still relevant as of today. Namely I've found AES, ed25519, Hmac. The code itself is mostly taken from Text Secure (now Signal) at a point when they've decided to drop SMS support in order to focus on their own network (bypassing SMS).

Personally I'd trust it more than raw SMS at least. I think I'd mostly trust it.

I use Element/XMPP/Signal mostly though. In fact I've stopped using Silence few years ago.. Somehow thinking outside of the SMS box now.
