When I was younger, a friend passed me a copy of Demon's Souls for the PS3 when it came out in Europe. He said this game sucks and that I can keep it for now. This was before this franchise had any popularity at all, I didn't even know anything about it before playing aside from what's on the back cover.
Played it, hated it because I had no idea where to go or what to do. Gave it a try a month later and it quickly became one of my favorite games of all time. Been a day-one fan for the whole franchise since then. By comparison to everybody else, it's wild how coincidental my introduction to Souls was.
I feel like that goes against their whole message with Steam hardware though. The Steam Machine is advertised as a plug-and-play console alternative that needs zero effort on the user's part, if they sell versions of it without components it would quickly start gaining notoriety for being for tinkerer's and linux nerds instead of the average person.
Well... They did try to make Terraria Otherworld, but that game got cancelled and they fell back into supporting Terraria because it keeps printing money.
Oh nice. FF3 amd FF4 are the weird 3D remakes though, not the original ones. I remember playing one of these on mobile long ago, I wasn't aware a PC version even existed.
Oof. I remember my friend hyping it up when the Kickstarter launched in 2017... I'm aching for a new MMORPG but it's so unfortunate all the new ones either come out half-baked or flop completely.
Combat is fun and similar to Hades but not quite as deep. That said the community management aspect is a big part of the game so if you're not into that you might struggle, there's a lot of deciding what to build / talking to your cult.
Seconding A Hat in Time. It's probably the closest platformer to Mario Odyssey that isn't Mario. The last DLC (Nyakuza Metro) is especially worth your time.
Praying that one day GOG can strike a deal with console owners to bring old abandoned game to PC. I know decompiles exist but you basically need to pirate the games to play them which is very inaccessible.
Yeah, this is probably going to bomb. I have to give them some credit for making it look goofy and having characters look like the cartoon, but it's giving me "trying hard to be a Marvel movie" vibes. The ultra generic trailer music doesn't help.
Crazy that the Sands of Time remake was supposed to come out early 2021... Remakes are supposed to be quick projects for easy money, how could Ubisoft mess it up that much? Sands of Time isn't even a long game!
One was a cancelled mobile game but now I'm curious what the other 4 were. I guess we'll never find out as they funnel all that money to their successful live-service stuff.
Pretty disappointed that Duskbloods didn't make an appearance. The direct was mostly more anime games and ports, I was hoping for more.
