  • From what I understand, most of Krita's development budget comes from income on Steam, with fund.krita.org being a smaller slice. Krita would effectively be in maintenance mode if they didn't have money to pay regular developers and maintainers.

You can still just get it for free on the website.

  • I'm in Portland, Oregon on the West Coast and we have people protesting every day here. I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same in most big cities. I even see protests in suburbs and smaller towns. There was a massive turnout for the "no kings" protest back in October, and there's another one coming up in March. People are protesting.

Our current national government isn't very receptive to protests because they are essentially authoritarian and don't have any shame or respect for the people. They're still worth doing to sure our anger and resistance to the current government, but I don't expect them to bring about real change.

We need Democrats to win a damn election, preferably those with a spine who understand that incremental change isn't good enough. It wasn't enough before, and especially isn't now that Trump and the Republicans have effectively destroyed and dismantled our institutions.

The only thing that will change the current situation is democracy or revolution.

  • I believe they have been doing that and will continue to do that. Not just through distillation attacks, but also throughout hacking corporate and government networks, and good old fashioned espionage.

But "easy come, easy go", I guess. Because all of the training data was stolen in the first place. Just one more reason why the AI business is fucked. The answer for society remains regulation.

  • Yes please 🙏

  • Great, can we end the war now?

  • Darn... Time to scrape the Tulsi bumper sticker off your 1997 Geo Metro.

  • "Operation Epic Furry" does sound like a legit name for a wild post-con dance party. That's a freebie for the anthro community.

Also leave the furries alone! Most of them seem to be way above average intellect. I wish they'd take over world governments.

  • I'll believe it when I see it

  • If rather eat the rich.

  • If you can't connect the dots between Ukraine, Iran, Taiwan, and Venezuela then I simply don't know what to tell you...

  • Why wouldn't China invade Taiwan at this point?

  • Well, Trump has now dragged us into a World War on behalf of Israel. Meanwhile people in America starve, are homeless, addicted to opiates, and have no jobs and no healthcare. Everything is unaffordable and the American people are hopeless, and now another endless war.

Fuck Trump. America First? America fucking Last....

  • If AI is so good why even have traditional OS?

  • I got permabanned from Reddit for talking mad shit about AI and saying what I think should happen to ICE and Trump, so I guess I didn't care. Pretty funny though.

  • Nothing about AI is "in good conscience".

  • Just like basically all of this AI shit... Who is this for?

They should be focused on making their food better and cheaper, not making their employees miserable.

I'll get my burger at whatever restaurant treats its workers and customers like human beings.

  • What a shocker...

  • Beautiful. I'm very sorry for your loss. I know he loved you as much as you loved him.❤️

  • Never used it. Don't see any reason to. I just type stuff in my IDE. Works like a charm.

Most of the time I'm not writing large volumes or boilerplate code or anything, I'm making precise changes to solve specific problems. I doubt there's any LLM that can do that more effectively than a programmer with real knowledge of the code base and application domain.

I also work on open source software and we haven't seen a meaningful uptick in good contributions due to AI over the last few years. So if there's some mythical productivity increase happening, I'm just not seeing it.

  • Yeah... I've always heard a lot of big talk from him about bcachefs that didn't seem to be very easy to verify with any concrete data or benchmarks, but now I'm starting to maybe see why.

Delusional thinking and LLMs are a bad combo.
