  • I like automatic updates when I explicitly turn them on myself. I do NOT like automatic updates when they happen during work hours, force me to close programs and/or restart my PC, and reinstall things that I explicitly removed from my PC.

  • This whole album is so groovy.

  • Theyre successful because they exploited the labor of the working class. Thats not success, it's evil.

  • Thanks, I thought so too! The original can be found here, looks like the artist uploaded it and has more in their profile.

  • Not to be pedantic, but that would be your lemmy.world login. Voyager is simply an app to interact with lemmy. For instance i use the Boost app to access Piefed. You can login by visiting lemmy.world from your preferred browser.

Once you've created the community you want, you can share it at !newcommunities@lemmy.world (among other places). Welcome to the threadiverse!

  • There are no cool new features.

B-but you can buy an overpriced webcam to talk to your friends over spotty online voice chat. What other features could you possibly want?! (/s)

  • I agree with your post 100% I think. Removing oneself from big tech/data services like Google and Microsoft is resisting the regime. It's especially useful for folks that may not be able to get out and protest, meet with their representatives, etc.

As for me, I'm running my *arr/media stack for myself and my close friends and family. Fuck Disney, Netflix, and Paramount. For our household, HomeAssistant keeps the lights on and SyncThing backs up our files to the NAS.

  • When I shopped at Gamestop all throughout my teens and early 20s, I was of course a "Pro Member" (their name for the rewards/magazine program). Unfortunately somehow that rewards number got tied to either an ooooold email or an incorrect one, and I tried countless times to try and fix it. Their website sucked, their customer support for rewards was nonexistent, and the most annoying thing was when I went into a store and bought something. The employees would be shocked at how many points I had, and just say "call the home office" every time I told them I could not access my account and points.

Other people probably had a normal experience, but I just wanted to share my rewards program anecdote to your opinion :)

  • You don't go to WH during normal business hours. You go in the wee hours of the morning or very late in the evening under the influence of your substance of choice.

It doesn't surprise me to learn that it's a less dramatic place to work. All of the staff is ready to kill at any moment, I wouldn't bring drama either 😅

  • I guess I'd describe myself as agnostic, but I find them to be annoying, generally. This includes my grandmother who must bring up God in every conversation. Weather? God. Politics? God. What people are up to? God. Her particular flavor of "Christianity" involves judging others, so the shit she spews isn't taken very seriously in our house. If I were in your friend's shoes, I'd probably just distance myself from this friend of his, since she doesn't really seem to respect him.

I like to discuss religion and people's particular beliefs, mostly because it's fascinating how different groups and cultures have decided how to get through life with ultimately the same conclusion. But it's hard to do that when someone's view of the subject is voluntarily one-sided. I think it's ignorant to claim your religion as the way to believe, and the only way to get to some so-called heaven or afterlife.

  • And unfortunately, the wife's laptop has Nvidia. So far it's played nice with everything she likes to play on her laptop, but HF2 (the one game she reeeeeally wants to play, of course) is giving us trouble.

  • This is some great info. Thank you very much for taking the time to respond!

  • I meant that House Flipper 2 the game causes the laptop to hard crash somewhat frequently, as in, the entire computer must be powered off to do anything. Can't open a terminal, can't alt+tab out, etc. I didn't mean to imply that Proton was causing the crashing, I simply wanted to know how one version of Proton could be different than another, so I appreciate the reply.

  • And Peter Jones just came back, too. Hate to see them go but I wish them the best.

  • The tank's a bit messy right now but here's one of the goobers.

  • I shit at home, but then I shit in the office. Then maybe I'll shit again after lunch. Boss makes a doller, after all.
