For years I am watching the cryptocurrency Nano ($XNO). As many cryptocurrencies, it is free / libre / open source, decentralized (belongs to no nation). But it is also totally without fees (I haven't believed it but checked and it is really true), super fast (full confirmation under 1 second) and super energy efficient (on par with usual bank card transaction). And the guys beyond it are there for the original goal of crypto - enabling independent money usage - while also explicitly distancing themselves from speculative "investing".
But it is not yet "commercial grade", so big companies are for now not encouraged to use it for high throughput use cases. And it is also not yet widely accepted by vendors, and widely owned by paying customers. Basically the chicken and egg problem...
For comparison: If Europe would stop paying for paid USA software and switched to free / libre / open source, or even just paid European, we could save billions of euros every month! And would support Europeans by even better libre software.
Eat with my mom, exchange gifts, visit other family, hopefully visit friends from high school. Some classic fairytale would be nice. Before / after have a walk to maintain health.
OpenProject. Great tool for project management and usual organizational operations. Also, it's European, libre and have interface (partly) in Esperanto.
I know that this is an acute problem that needs acute solution.
But jobs are generally going outdated fast. With advances in automation, the question is no more how to preserve / get job for oneself, but how to set up our society to be well without need for job in the first place.
Let's make a though experiment. Imagine that there would already be a functional technology for indefinite life extension, so people would not have to die of aging (they could choose it, but it wouldn't be necessary) and people would live practically indefinitely long. But the society would have a problem about billionaire.
Would you suggest to solve the problem with billionaires by infecting all humans with a noncurable illness that is debilitating them for many decades, sucking energy from their bodies and joy from their minds, making them weak, frail and in last years also dependent and often bedridden, stealing their independence and dignity and finally killing 110 000 people every single day?
Just to solve a problem with several hundreds, thousands of billionaires?
Or would you target think and work hard to solve the problem with billionaires by soon other way and reserve killing of all humans only as a last possibility?
It is not only about your personal lifespan. It about life of every single human.
Advanced automation 😎
And changing the socio-economic system so jobs are decoupled from survival.
