  • Absolutely, such a great diversity of sights. Happy to show it all off!

  • This was also the final hike I did down in the Redwoods, so the next set will be headed back up along the Oregon coast, before doing another time jump. Should freshen up the posts a little, as although the Redwoods are amazing, seeing tall trees every day repeatedly gets a little samey.

  • It really is a fantastic place!

  • Absolutely, I love it so much here! Great area for a bike tour!

Rim Trail- Wedding Rock and Patrick's Point, Sue-Meg State Park, CA

  • Haha, just wait, one of these Redwoods trails I'll get to was actually the location for the filming of Endor. Although I don't have any specific shots that line up with the movie (they had permits for off trail in the area), I'll be mentioning it. Same goes for a scene from Jurassic Park, although I can't remember if I went to that location during this trip down to the Redwoods.

Ten Taypo-Hope Creek Loop, Prairie Creek Redwoods, CA

  • You should absolutely get there sometime if you can, there is such a great mix of wildly different sights. There is some truly epic coastline around there. If you go and have a little extra time, heading north into Oregon has some really great coast as well and a lot of the views going that way are as you rise up above the cliffs along 101.

  • Thanks! Yeah, it’s really hard to convey the feeling you get surrounded by these absolutely massive trees. That coastline around Crescent city is so pretty; it’s great all around the CA/OR area but the Castle Island stuff is just so great.

  • Most of this run of Redwood photos are going to be shot on an Ultra-wide lens (Rokinon 14mm 2.4f) I got for myself as a birthday present at the turn of the year. That's how I'm able to get so much of the tree at once, but also causes some stretching of what's in the photo. So in person, the trees are a little fatter and a little shorter, but still crazy tall.

  • Yeah, everything I post is done by me, and more or less every day. Although sometimes its more that I'll do two or three shorter ones in a day and then there are times where I'll have a few days off for whatever reason.

  • Since I won't be able to do as much hiking for the wintertime, from here on out I'll be jumping back in time for my daily hikes. Likely will start with hikes from earlier this year (Redwoods mainly), and once I get through that I'll go chronologically through last years hikes, mostly Southwest US.

Table Rock Mountain Trail, Linville Gorge Wilderness, North Carolina

  • Yeah, I knew it was possible with no haze, but I did not expect it to be that good. Once the sun got a little higher though it turned into a blob and then disappeared completely by around 9am.

  • Hell yeah, that looks awesome! That's the one downside to being there in the fall was the lower water. Thanks!

  • It should be right around peak for colors now I’d think, so have fun if you go!.. Ah, right on, the way they had a high water trail I thought it might typically be wider.

  • Virginia (US); I’ll start spelling out the states as opposed to the shorthand we use here. Hadn’t really thought of it prior to this.

  • Yeah, usually for me its been out west in more arid environments so this was a change from the usual for me as well.

  • Gets stuck in my head every time I see any haha.

  • Ha, that must be what kept upsetting them!

  • Thanks! Yeah as I was walking up to it it just seemed so well framed that I knew I had to try and capture that.

  • Yeah, sorry must have missed the 'mi' on this one. US Miles.
