  • Plenty of mentally stable people only do the one.

If your only definition of "mentally stable" is "they don't murder again", then I guess you could make that argument, but it is ok to just acknowledge the fact that murder is not a healthy behavior. Like you don't have to fight fact on that one. It's just a known truth about the human condition. You can want Luigi out while acknowledging that murder is unhealthy and wrong.

  • yeah, I know so many mentally healthy people who murder all of the time.

  • he'll probably kill someone again. the judge was wrong to not allow a MH conviction to go forward, but ultimately that puts the jury in the position to let out a seriously mental ill murderer with no consequences or not.

  • yeah, hasn't every administration fired the entire federal government for refusing to tell the president no, coordinated an election fraud campaign, and then pardoned the people who participated? that's totally normal.

  • I prefer to try to primary a candidate within my party, because no offense people not voting in the primaries is how we got joe biden.

  • No, this year more than literally any other year in human history would be the absolute worst time to not vote for a democratic candidate. We are dealing with unprecedented challenges to rule of law, and we need every single person with a functioning soul to scream "NO" as loud as we can. Because if you don't, you might not get another chance.

  • when we got the ACA passed through the senate via administrative procedures without enough votes (senator Kennedy died and the state lost its seat to a Republican, really unfortunate. senator Kennedy had worked for decades to get healthcare reform through congress and was a co-sponsor of the bill.)

they also dislike that teachers tell children to be kind in schools, for whatever reason.

  • I'm a stomach sleeper, so I prefer my pillow to be worn in and flatter.

  • well, I generally think most people are better than me, and I'm still here.

  • do people like this genuinely get enjoyment from surrounding themselves with negativity?

it's an emotional outlet. they can't regulate their emotions without lashing out. I just block people that don't know how to get along well with others.

  • I mean, it sounds like your friend genuinely doesn't understand the scientific method. That doesn't necessarily make them unreasonable. It just means they had a sub-standard science education.

  • If you’re applying the law as it is written, there isn’t a way to square a dictator within the framework of the constitution. ALL federal power is vested in the elected positions, and ALL remaining powers are reserved to the states. It’s not possible for a non-elected official to have more power than an elected official.

The constitution would have to die for a dictator to exist- as in, people would have to willingly stop enforcing it.

  • it was a "surprise reschedule" 3 class day when I scheduled an interview this morning because it's supposed to be slow. 1.5 hours left and I just want to go home. such a long morning.

  • You are presupposing that men always act a rationality that they simply do not possess.

  • There’s a balance between physically punitive surveillance state and consequences for your action.

  • stay away unless you're unemployed

  • It does not make any sense to oppose international cooperation. Like it's moronic outside the scope of politics- it's just straight up brainwashed. "The people are foreign and therefore we can only ever talk to them to exploit them!" Like really?

  • It's a result of our voting system, first past the post takes all. The party with 51% of the vote gets the seat (all of the representation), parties with 49% of the vote or less get nothing at all. This is a "winner take all" system. When you get nothing when you lose, being on the side of the winning candidate is really important, so people don't care to align themselves with anyone other than the top 2 candidates. This mostly comes up when a candidate tries to "split the vote". A candidate splits the vote when they are popular within their party but didn't win the primary, so they try to contest their party's candidate by running in a third party. Splitting the vote is considered extremely poor strategy, because what happens is you get a 50/25/25 split. As in, almost nobody in the other party will vote for you, so you are competing with the other candidate for 50% or less of the voting population. It's a losing proposition by default.

Edit: oh if you mean the literal colors, yeah those are our flag colors. politicians wear them to indicate patriotism.
