Time to start yet another xfx class-action
There is still a crumple zone, but it doesn't have an engine...
We've moved past oligarchy into kleptocracy in the last few weeks.
Not all geoengineering is the same. Beavers are geoengineers. We have already had a crazy huge impact on this planet, we should absolutely do something to mitigate these effects. A distributed (as opposed to all in one location) carbon cycle buffer is about the least harmful effect one can hope for and still have a positive impact.
Those bicarbonate ions are great for combating ocean acidification, they act as a pH buffer. Ocean acidification is rising due to increased atmospheric CO2 levels and that decrease in pH makes it harder for macro life forms to utilize carbonates to form shells and drives extinction. By increasing the concentration of bicarbonate, the carrying capacity of the ocean to absorb atmospheric CO2 without changing the pH is increased.
Despite this happening in June, article is dated Nov. 30 and says this happened a week ago...
The economic system we are in is political. If we had privacy protections a lot of those apps would have less incentive to enshitify. Allowing predatory companies to prey on people's ignorance or laziness is a political choice.

COP is no longer fit for purpose and should be reformed.
Damn, that's going to be a very strong chin
Damn, we (Americans) don't even have 1 person 1 vote... But I agree with the sentiment.
Marvel did this already and called it Loki.
Very specifically, because we are building out additional power infrastructure for AI. That means we keep the dirty sources online longer.
I wanted the punk aesthetic to come to come back, but not like this.
I assumed there were no sober Zamboni drivers

$10,000 fine on a $1,000,000 lottery is just a 1% tax. I'm surprised he even bothered to notice.
They have been trying to find somewhere to build their next scale up for a few years now.
Feature Request: Usage Warning Timer

TIL the first recorded strike in history happened in 1158BC in Ancient Egypt, the strikers demanded wheat rations, which was granted after a march to the office of the Vizier.
feature request: block a community
I scroll all:scaled fairly often, as my list of subs isn't super active, but there are some communities that come up fairly often that I would rather not see. Is there a way to implement that on the client side or would that require a Lemmy change?
Open-source Solarpunk TTRPG: Nearly out of beta!
Fully Automated! is a free open-source tabletop roleplaying game set in a wild solarpunk future! And we’ve got some exciting additions since our last update in December.
First, there's the incredible cover art by Sean Bodley!
Next, there’s new interior art by Jacob Coffin, along with pages and pages of new content by our amazing open-source community of developers.
While there’s still lots of editing to do, the current text of the game manual and of the first campaign of adventures represent a pretty close approximation to what you’ll find in the final version. You can find both (for free) on our website at fullyautomatedrpg.com!
That’s the other thing: in addition to our Discord server, we now have a website, a Mastodon account (@[email protected]) and a Lemmy community (SLRPNK.net/c/fullyautomatedrpg). Follow us or join our mailing list for updates as we approach the release of the official first edition of the game. And if you want to contribute art or ideas, our dev

There are some obvious ethical concerns, but I can see a future with AI red and blue team actors playing a substantial role in network security.
Looking for Long-form Solarpunk Fiction I can loose myself in, any suggestions?
I love Octavia Butler and N.K. Jemisin's work, but most of the solarpunk content I've come across is short stories. What would y'all recommend that I can get lost in for a while?
