"Fuck me Sam, I don't have anymore ideas on how to turn a profit. We've tried everything. How about we just give the AI its own infrastructure and bank account with the instructions 'make money' and see what it does? I know that safety guy advised against it before, but he no long works here. I mean if it becomes a singularity event, at least it's our singularity event to control"
Something something Clarkesworld Magazine. Long running monthly science fiction magazine offering more imaginative views of the future. Free to read online. I'm not claiming all of it is solarpunk, but it speak to a need to image a future that isn't just "Don't Build the Torment Nexus"
People could easily publish their age ID for anyone to use.
Publishing their age ID can result in the age ID getting flagged and recent accounts being disabled. PITA for the user, but be more careful.
If people aren't careful (they aren't) then they will give too much identifying info away to sites anyway, and then those sites could correlate the age ID with their identity
I'm not following. The "over 18?" service should not communicate the age ID to the website and the website should not communicate the account or person name to the government? Nothing except the "over 18" service ever sees the age ID.
When you go to a bar, the bouncer checks your ID and determines your age. He will not remember your name. He will not inform the government you are at the bar. He will not write down who you met with or talked to. We as a society trust he will not do these things. You are still anonymous from the perspective of the bouncer.
If humans really truely tried I am sure we could design a transparent system for verifying age or human-ness that we (tech paranoid Lemmings) could trust.
I don't know what that system would look, but I also didn't know how a "cryotographic decentralized digital currency" would work without the backing of a centralized government in 2008.
Just make social security numbers public information at this point. Who cares. Don't develop your security model around a users SS number being secret.
Tech venture capitalists for some reason:
