  • Why does such a large portion of lemm.ee want to block hexbear.net? And, how can Hexbearians improve?

    Jump
  • While I'm mostly neutral on Hexbear, I do have one significant issue with it: Your emojis show as giant images on other instances, and hexbear users seem to love using those emojis everywhere. I'd recommend using spoiler tags to hide them when posting to other communities until that's fixed.

  • According to what Unity reps said elsewhere, they have no way of knowing what's a bought install, what's a demo, what's a charity bundle, what's a pirated install, and what is someone loading a webpage with a WebGL program integrated (every page view = 1 install).

Instead, they want to estimate how much people owe them. Using secret methods with no accountability.

  • How were those other fines percentage-wise? According to another comment, this is a 3.7% fine.

  • See that sidebar on the right? Click the "Megathread" link there.

  • Hey, don't kink shame. Some people like pressing their heads against french nuclear reactors.

  • "... because half the class has blue hair."

Of course it matters. Hair color is a core part of an anime girl's personality!

  • It's an older meme, but it checks out.

  • "NTA - only a psychopath would serve skittles, so everything you did was right."

  • Idk, sounds like victim blaming to me.

  • So nothing's changed then?

  • "American" hair color means your hair is an animated gif of the american flag blowing in the wind (regardless of actual weather conditions), which is somehow fully visible from any angle. You also have a bald eagle nesting in that hair. The eagle dual wields AK-47s.

  • Ha, nice! Adding this to my collection.

  • Possible alternative that doesn't involve defederating: Banning those two bot accounts from lemm.ee. That way, any users on those sites would still be able to participate in posts here.

... Though, I'm not sure how many of those there actually are. Looking at the sidebar, zerobytes.monster has had 18 users in the last 6 months, and lemmit.online a grand total of 1 user in the last 6 months.

  • I'm using some custom ublock origin filters that I found somewhere to block shorts across all of youtube:

    !Youtube Shorts
    www.youtube.com###guide-content #endpoint[title="Shorts"]:upward(ytd-guide-entry-renderer)
    www.youtube.com###items #endpoint[title="Shorts"]:upward(ytd-mini-guide-entry-renderer)
    www.youtube.com##ytd-browse #dismissible ytd-rich-grid-slim-media[is-short]:upward(ytd-rich-section-renderer)
    www.youtube.com##ytd-browse ytd-grid-video-renderer:has(span.ytd-thumbnail-overlay-time-status-renderer[aria-label="Shorts"])
    www.youtube.com##ytd-browse ytd-rich-item-renderer:has(span.ytd-thumbnail-overlay-time-status-renderer[aria-label="Shorts"])
    www.youtube.com##ytd-search ytd-video-renderer:has(span.ytd-thumbnail-overlay-time-status-renderer[aria-label="Shorts"])
    www.youtube.com##ytd-watch-next-secondary-results-renderer ytd-compact-video-renderer:has(span.ytd-thumbnail-overlay-time-status-renderer[aria-label="Shorts"])
    www.youtube.com##ytd-browse[page-subtype="subscriptions"] ytd-video-renderer span.ytd-thumbnail-overlay-time-status-renderer[aria-label="Shorts"]:upward(ytd-item-section-renderer)
    m.youtube.com##ytm-reel-shelf-renderer
    m.youtube.com##ytm-pivot-bar-renderer div.pivot-shorts:upward(ytm-pivot-bar-item-renderer)
    m.youtube.com##ytm-browse ytm-item-section-renderer ytm-video-with-context-renderer:has(ytm-thumbnail-overlay-time-status-renderer[data-style="SHORTS"])
    m.youtube.com##ytm-browse ytm-item-section-renderer ytm-compact-video-renderer:has(ytm-thumbnail-overlay-time-status-renderer[data-style="SHORTS"])
    m.youtube.com##ytm-search ytm-compact-video-renderer:has(ytm-thumbnail-overlay-time-status-renderer[data-style="SHORTS"])

Also separately, for blocking videos that don't exist yet, which I also dislike:

    !Youtube upcoming videos
    www.youtube.com##ytd-browse ytd-grid-video-renderer:has(ytd-thumbnail-overlay-time-status-renderer[overlay-style="UPCOMING"])
    www.youtube.com##ytd-browse ytd-rich-item-renderer:has(ytd-thumbnail-overlay-time-status-renderer[overlay-style="UPCOMING"])
    www.youtube.com##ytd-browse[page-subtype="subscriptions"] ytd-video-renderer ytd-thumbnail-overlay-time-status-renderer[overlay-style="UPCOMING"]:upward(ytd-item-section-renderer)

  • Dice?!

  • Having played Shadowrun, that's nowhere near enough dice.

  • Clearly they should be using Windows XP instead.

  • For me at least, lack of open sign ups immediately makes me not join an instance. It's why I didn't join lemmy the first few times I saw it talked about on reddit, when the main instance was lemmy.ml.

  • Likely by means of it bursting out of your chest. There's a few monsters that reproduce like that.

  • That is the result, but Elon is too much of a prideful idiot to do it intentionally. But it's entirely possible some of the others involved were aiming for that.

  • Dude what. How thin-skinned does someone need to be to get upset over a joke like that from a random person on the internet?
