  • How do I get started with Mastodon? Are there multiple instances to choose from like Lemmy, or do you just sign up on mastodon.social?

Also, it looks like you can access Lemmy communities from there - so how is it different than just using Lemmy?

  • In the 1970's Exxon not only knew about climate change due to the burning of their fossil fuels, they accurately predicted global warming projections. And studies by their internal scientists continued to predict and verify global warming in a bunch of reports between 1977 and 2003. Yet they still continued to lobby against renewable energy and admitted that they still aggressively fought climate change science.

  • How much more difficult is it to print TPU compared to PLA?

  • Using Firefox mobile with an ad blocker but it doesn't block Facebook ads or sponsored posts.

  • Electronic hobbyist pages for Arduino and Expressif microcontrollers for project help and showcasing protects people are working on:

  • I use my Windows work laptop as my personal laptop by booting Ubuntu off an external SSD. It is connected through the laptop's thunderbolt USB C port, and Ubuntu runs smoothly without any issues as if it were off the internal drive. And not the most elegant solution, but I have Velcro strips on the drive and laptop, so to transform from work computer to personal, I just stick the drive on, plug it in, and boot up Linux! And the best part is that because it's a completely different drive, there are no personal files/data actually saved on the work computer.

  • Opera for mobile is the best mobile browser by far in my opinion. For desktop, I stick with Firefox.

  • The fact that they release Cura for free, make it available on all platforms (Mac/Windows/Linux), continuously improve and update it, and have incorporated the setup of basically every 3D printer you can buy is amazing.

Also, octoprint is free and open source and is incredible as well.

  • Beyond Pod hasn't been updated since January 2021. It used to be the best podcast app by far, but is now quite buggy and broken on newer versions of Android.

AntennaPod is what I use now. A fantastic app that is free, no ads, and completely open source.

  • Same, but for me it's a BMX bike.

  • I used the paid version of BeyondPod for many years, but it doesn't seem to be supported anymore. The last update was January 2021, and it doesn't play well with newer versions of android.

I finally switched to AntennaPod and it has been such a better experience.

  • How is the software experience with Fairphone? Is it generally pretty stable and bug free?
