That's kind of my point and my reaction to seeing Cyberpunk 2077 on the list. Similarly to what you said, in Altered Carbon, you're just a stack that can be inserted into any body. I see no future that's not post-gender. Facial fillers being so prevalent is already a hint of what's to come, but when you have more serious augmentations, swap out body parts at will or mind upload, gender would be more like clothing or customizing a character's appearance in a video game. That said, cyberpunk is not necessarily an accurate representation of the future, hence the open question.
Can cyberpunk be transphobic?
Looks more like a repurposed greenhouse to me.
The views aren't limited to the West, even if they originate from the West. In a gaming community I moderate, the first person to bring up DEI was a user from Bangladesh. On Wikidata, the person to mark games as not recommended by a certain Steam curator run by a Brazilian was a Russian.
The user remains banned. The mod in question is a new iteration of it uploaded by a different user.
Apparently Nexus doesn't mind this one. See the community manager post.
There's a sense of humor in that when you look at the last name.
I'd go after the fronts in Europe and shipping to "neutral" countries like the UAE. If journalists like those of The Insider can routinely uncover the shell companies, then so can the Western intelligence agencies.
That solves nothing. Much of what Russia receives is done via other countries like the UAE.
The word fascism gets thrown around a lot, but that is truly the beginning of fascism. Being a US citizen still allows for easy travel to most if not all countries of the world, offering an escape path, but the incarcerated have absolutely no choice. As with Nazi Germany and similar regimes, it always starts with the disenfranchised that are already viewed as unwanted or unworthy of attention by the majority.
Apple is Breaking the Law By Charging Fees for Steering, Imposing Restrictions on Third Party Stores
Not really. Linux is all about openness and choice, but going with Linux as the only OS will significantly limit what you can play. As a modder, I'm against EAC and and the like as much as the next person here, but ideally I want to be able to play anything that looks appealing, not have to skip games for no reason other than their anti-cheat solutions not being compatible with Linux. I agree that we shouldn't support those practices, but it's one thing to willingly boycott something and another is to not have that agency at all.
Still better than being ruled by Putler.
Epic Games Store allows game creators to mark that their game contains promotional content
As seen on the STAR WARS Zero Company page for example.
Shadow profiles are nothing new. A lot has been written on Facebook doing that. I have a personal story related to that as well. Years after I removed my Facebook account, I tried signing up on Instagram with a different email address, but it wouldn't let me (probably due to the way I connected) until I entered that old email address. After a while, among the people suggested to me to follow was a Facebook friend I hadn't connected with or looked at in years. Needless to say, I removed my Instagram account right after that, but I'm sure the data is still stored somewhere.
Great article, but isn't Substack also a Nazi platform or am I confusing it with another?
The main maintainer of this instance and PrivacyGuides, Jonah, was last active on reddit just days ago, but a year ago on Lemmy. Clearly it's not a priority for him.
By the way, it's the same website that scrubbed the section on alternatives to the big tech social networks like Twitter and Reddit, making the wild claim that there's no practical difference between them and the alternatives. They argued that the public nature defeats the point of privacy, but refused to account for the fact that the amount of personal and other data collected and sold by the corporations is multitudes more than what is collected by the likes of Lemmy.
Zelenskyy has repeatedly said that Ukraine could survive without the US support but that it would be hard. There's a reason he was among the first to congratulate Trump on his victory in the election even before the votes were fully counted.
River City Girls and items for Arcadegeddon and Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms are this week's freebies on Epic
I definitely felt that! Trying to check the feed and getting a 502 was not nice. Good thing I had an account with another instance for the interim. Anyway, no service is bulletproof and things absolutely go wrong when running a server, no matter how good or prepared we may be. Having working backups is instrumental and I'm glad you have that going.

Shatterline relaunch is 95% off on Epic
The game looks similar to Counter-Strike or Call of Duty. It seems unlikely to last, but at that price there would be nothing to regret.

The Trump administration is expected to be softer on antitrust cases, which as we know are one of Sweeney's major pursuits.

Epic giveaways RSS feed having issues
As of this writing, the feed is still stuck on Control, so we have no posts on Ghostrunner 2 and Hot Wheels Unleashed.
Zippy Bot pulls from a third-party RSS feed by eikowagenknecht, so it's outside our control. Quite unfortunate in case anybody doesn't check the store daily and relies strictly on this Lemmy community for the notifications.
