Rekall is a company that provides memory implants of vacations, where a client can take a memory trip to a certain planet and be whoever they desire.

  • Huang is of course infinitly more knowleabout the industry than I can ever be.

But one doesn't need to know anything about LLMs or GPUs to understand that oligarchs are corrupt and dishonest.

That's the "gap" in Huanag's reasoning, which I think he knows full well; he is just comfortable with lying and isn't capable of understanding right from wrong.

  • I agree that now is the perfect time get users to switch.

Justing saying, if you do have critical Windows only software (e.g. work), there is always the option to use Win10 (enterprise installs just get security updates, I didn't even get a request to upgrade to Win11).

  • There is Windows 10, with the right approach (grey market keys) you continue to get security updates and Win10 will IMO be supported for a very long time (because so many people are going to keep using it). MS will be forced to provide out of band security updates.

  • The discussions in the vein of "this laptop has a NPU with 45 TOPS" are particularly funny.

So what if it has 45 TOPS? Who cares?

  • This honestly aimed at a market where OpenWRT / custom firmware support is not critical.

  • "Free market"

  • I am probably misremembering, there have been so many changes to the notifications/QS that it's difficult to keep track off.

  • Wasn't something similar already implemented in one of the older releases (and then removed)?

  • Good for both of them, but Framework really needs to stop working/promoting Omarchy, it's led my a far right goon.

Their initial response also had that "silicon valley techie roleplaying as a libertarian" feel to it.

  • It's good to see iGPUs become competitive in the last ~5 years. Back in the day and Intel iGPU was basically unusable for anything other than basic computer tasks.

All the laptops I had in my life (non-work) had a dGPU. I am seriously considering an option with an high end iGPU.

  • "captivating content from Lock Glimpse"

So captivating that they decide to remove it from many of their phones.

  • I don't have a bias against LLMs, I use them regularly albeit either for casual things (movie recommendation) or an automation tool in work areas where I can somewhat easily validate the output or the specific task is low impact.

I am just curious, do you respect robots.txt?

  • It's the authors commentary based on conversations with folks from the industry at CES:

What I heard on the ground floor from various system integrators, components manufacturers, and other companies, is memory supply has been tied up for all of 2026, and that shortages could last as long as until 2031.

  • That website is really shit even by the low standards of most modern websites.

  • I am talking about MAUs exclusively, not the number of accounts. MAUs of course don't account for users with multiple active accounts, but I would suspect that this class of user is a small minority.

Still not sure why there is such a big difference in MAUs between FediDB and Fedi Observer (Hexbear does not have 10K MAU).

  • Interestingly enough, the stats for Piefed are nearly identical for both sources, the Lemmy delta is huge though.

  • I am curious why there is such a big difference between FediDB and Fedi Observer.

FediDB has Lemmy at 48 K MAU:

https://fedidb.com/ (Lemmy is the fourth entry on the platform list).

  • It's likely cheaper to go with SODIMM and SODIMM is actually widely available.
