  • Oh I forgot the part where we or the EU cared about the genocide going on in Sudan and all the sanctions we applied to the United Arab Emirates (Dubai) for being its main sponsor. I must have been distracted.

Same for the sanctions against Azerbaijan for the effective genocide that whipped up the Christian population of Nagorno Karabakh in less than 72 hours. I just probably missed that news. /s

If anything Europe should petition the Arab territories to admit defeat and move on, the Israeli-Arab wars are going on for too long always with the same result.

But maybe, just maybe, we're simply not prepared to let Jews win a war... :/

  • Wero is private, it belongs to the EPI company. But they also have an agreement with the alliance of other payment solutions to make it all interoperable by 2027.

  • That's what the Danish nazis are saying as an argument to not fear ridicule, I just pointed out that it wasn't just at the beginning.

  • Israel/Palestine is such a distraction for Western politics. Loads of wars and territorial changes in the world, including in Europe (Nagorno Karabakh, Ukraine before 2022) and no one bats an eye.

But anything in this old conflict, that Israel wins military each time, and we're all up in arms as if it's essential to our continent.

Spoiler: it's not and we're being played by foreign agents and stalinists. Enough. Our focus should be Ukraine, that's our war.

  • Hitler and Mussolini were also ridiculed in the end. People should read the entire biographies.

  • That's a ridiculous claim as several EU countries have their own systems, which they are trying to make interoperable between them in some cases or merge into Wero in others.

  • That's something different, that's what Wero is trying to achieve in Europe. But the Digital Euro goes well beyond what Pix does.

  • If we forget the horrible human cruelty of all of this, financially it's still a nightmare. People being transported around the country into different "detention centers" (concentration camps) for months, costs a lots of money. These centers are privately run, airlines make money with the transport part, the US debt continues to grow.

  • Other countries also have their own systems since long.. MBway in Portugal is also more than a decade old.

  • Not sure Europe realizes how soaking wet the Iberian peninsula is these days.. it's wet all over, in every corner.

  • After a video call with her husband on Sunday night – their first in five months – Smyth told Culleton’s family in Ireland he had lost weight and hair and had sores and infections. “There’s no hygiene there. He’s been asking for antibiotics for the last four weeks,” his sister, Caroline Culleton, told RTÉ. The detainees were seldom allowed out for exercise or air, she said.

Well nobody boycotted Qatar WC, so I guess the US having concentration camps won't be a reason to boycott their WC, right?

  • Joules is the correct and accurate unit. Calories are used out of habit despite being a less optimal unit not endorsed by science. So it's weird to be called a redneck for stating that.

PS: and no, this is not imported from the US where no one has ever heard of joules. Joules are however commonly used in some countries already, so there's hope.

  • It was, the food is plenty no worries.

    In Paternoster, South Africa btw

  • Well established in its markets only.

  • Interpretability is great but I wonder if these national systems that don't intended to simply merge into Wero will have use some branding that makes it obvious that they are compatible..

  • It makes those payments much simpler. You don't want to give or get a full IBAN everytime you pay at a shop.

  • Ethics is not the main concern here, but financial sovereignty. The ethics of US banks depends in big deal on whoever occupies the White House and their domination of digital payments can easily be used against us. So yeah, plenty to celebrate from getting our own digital payment alternative.

  • Some of those banks are cooperatives themselves. Anyway, the alternative is to continue totally dependent on US finance companies, so there's that.

  • Well this is basically a cooperative of banks, does that count?

SIBS from Portugal has a total monopoly in the country as all banks are in it.

  • I didn't know it but I think it does. Will join immediately. Thank you!
