  • Like, whatever you want to do!

I play role - playing games and cook food. Next month I join a BJJ gym with all the money I'm saving.

I took up candle making as a hobby last year and I play music most days.

I just try to get better at something than I was yesterday and have fun doing it.

  • What now?

  • Corey Doctorow's podcast Understood: Who broke the internet? does an amazing job of explaining this. It's only like 5 episodes and worth everyone's time.

  • I use this a lot. Usually rain spunds, but when I'm feeling spry I also like video game sound tracks and atmospheric black metal.

Where do you find "cosmic noise"?

  • Technically Wolverine is Canadian

  • I really like OwlBear Rodeo. It is system agnostic simple tabletop. There is a learning curve but it's pretty easy. It's also great on tablets and decent on phones.

The best part is that there are a lot of 3rd party extensions to dial in your specific game mechanics. I've been playing Dragonbane and it has some funky mechanics that someone else made work well in OBR.

  • Having not read the article: probably. The magazine tube should still be fine as long as it's a pump action shotgun because firing another round requires manually cycling the action.

  • Hr19@opm.gov is another viable solution, if not as directly effective.

  • I stand corrected.

  • I've been using FUTO which is free and open source, has pretty good gesture typing, very good voice to text, and does not connect to the internet. I'm happy with it, but I'm also an idiot and most things make me happy.

Edit: I am wrong about freedom and open source. Don't listen to me. I still like the keyboard though.

  • The current argument is "you give your SSN, address, salary etc to the bank, your employer, the DMV, etc. They all want something from you. The world's richest man doesn't need your money, so why are you afraid of giving him all your information?"

It's basically "if you've done nothing wrong you've got nothing to hide" but with your identity and life savings and social security.

  • Hahahaha fair enough. I've gotten so used to playing online I kinda forgot that is a thing people do in the physical realm.

  • I just looked that up. Sounds super cool!. I have always liked the noir / hard bitten investigative types of characters.

If you're looking for an extra player for a play test or something give me a shout!

  • I just started running Call of Cthulhu games which is super fun, but the goal is to find players who want to play more narrative games and try out Spire: The City Must Fall and Heart.

Wildsea looks awesome but I want to play rather than GM it.

I also bought the Free League Publishing super pack on Humble Bundle so probably any of those. Coriolis and Forbidden Lands are currently the most attractive to me and look super fun to run.

I hear that Mutant: Year Zero is a great engine also.

So, y'know, just most games. I'm excited to play most of the games this year.

  • Same. When I've got a session coming upjwithjless than ideal prep time, I've used chat get to help figure out some story beats. Or reframe a movie plot into DnD terms. But more often than not I use the Story Engine Deck to help with writers block. I'd rather support a small company with a useful product than help Sam Altman boil the oceans.

  • This looks super interesting! I'm stoked to give it a shot.

  • You can indeed carry a gun in a national park. The law was changed in 2013.

Edit: I am wrong. It was 2010.

  • Check out startplaying.games. There is usually a cheap or free game going on if your time frame is flexible.

  • I also switched to Tidal after learning about Spotify's dystopian future war AI powered killer robot plans. It's also bullshit how little they pay artists.

I wish Tidal had podcasts, but I'm happy enough with AntennaPod.
