I don't see why it matters that they didn't include every detail. They are asking what alternatives there are; they weren't asking for alternatives based on their specific needs; just alternatives, and that's what people gave them. And they accepted Chimera OS as a (to them) seemingly good option and what they are choosing to install. Not every post needs to be extravagantly laid out in perfect detail. If it's a complex support post, sure. But a simple question can have more details added when necessary in the comments.
That's a fair desire for a touchscreen device. Don't know why people are downvoting so much. You want GNOME on something that's not Bazzite. To be honest, I'm looking for a good non SteamOS and non Bazzite distro pre-configured for Deck too (when I get one), for my own reasons. So you're not the only one.
It's a mix of pixel art and early 3D graphics.
It's better that GOG does it, then nobody does it. GOG probably offered to do it for them, which would be the only reason Capcom bothered, but at least you're supporting more DRM-Free games coming in the future by buying it. Not telling you what to spend your money on though, of course.
I've also noticed a handful of publishers finally releasing GOG wishlisted games ever since GOG started marketing the new GOG Dreamlist that's replacing the old wishlist. So in my opinion, if you buy games that were heavily wishlisted like this after they're finally added, you're financially telling publishers that the number of wish upvotes they see in the Dreamlist, actually does meaningfully represent how many people want to buy the game on GOG.
Oh, well I guess I won't be buying it or playing it, then 😀
I've just confirmed that I'm not buying their game.
I don't know who said that but that is not at all how DRM works. If the developer does not explicitly release a Linux port of the game, it will not run natively. After all, the offline installer files for Windows games on GOG (when you aren't using a launcher) are .exe files, which will only work on Linux using the WINE compatibility layer, which automatically makes it not native.
Also, have a look at this screenshot from the actual GOG store page if you're still not sure:
It only shows a Windows icon, this is how you know what platforms it runs natively on. If there were a Linux port, there would be a Tux penguin icon to the right of the Windows icon. For example:
So, something I've always been confused about this Lemmy community.
What's the purpose of this community? It's called Odysee - Share Videos Freely.
Is it saying that the purpose of this Lemmy community is to share Odysee videos? Or is the community meant for general Odysee discussion, where "Share Videos Freely" is simply referring to the free speech that Odysee offers?
The creator of this community didn't make this entirely clear.
DRM Free doesn't magically make it run natively on another OS, it still needs to be manually ported. No, there's only a Windows version, but the Windows game will run perfectly fine on Linux under Wine/Proton if you use the Heroic Games Launcher for your GOG games.
I am pleasantly surprised to find out that I've only spent $559 (356 USD) since joining Steam in 2016. Especially since I'm GOG only now.
Croc: Legend of the Gobbos Remastered Playthrough Part 1

Check out my new playthrough for the new remaster for the classic 1997 game Croc: Legend of the Gobbos. Parts 2-5 will release tonight. The rest of the 15 part playthrough will be released over the next 2 days.
Same tbh. I bought Metroid Prime Remastered and Tears of the Kingdom brand new in 2023 but it was not long after that I decided to stop buying their games brand new entirely. My thinking was that I'll buy a Switch 2 brand new maybe a year after it comes out, unless they really mess up with physical games as much as Xbox has, requiring internet, or something stupid like PS5 slim/pro's DRM in the disc drive that demands a one-time connection. Those hopes about physical games being good seem to be okay, but the pricing of the Switch 2 has completely soured the idea of buying the console instead. And the sheer price of the games makes me know I won't even be able to afford to buy games if I even got the console years after release (because they never drop game prices).
Oh, okay. Yeah, the game means a lot to me and my siblings who played it on the old family computer when I was 4-7. Outside of maybe some kids educational games, it was most likely the first real videogame I ever played. It was either that, or Mario 64 at my Dads house which I also played at that age.
It's alright, those games are all Steam Deck verified so they'll play just fine.
Croc: Legend of the Gobbos was a childhood favourite of mine that I played when I was 6 in the mid-late 00s and the remaster just came out yesterday! It's a fun 3D platformer from the 90s that was on the PS1/PC and was mainly made for kids. On PC it's a GOG exclusive though, so you'd have to set up Heroic Games Launcher to download the game, then add the game manually to your Steam library if you don't want your child messing around with desktop mode. I think it's very suitable for his age. The original game had tank controls which he might not like if he's used to modern game controls, but the new remaster has the option for full dual analogue stick controls which makes it feel like a normal modern game to control. I run a Linux desktop and the game works perfectly on the newest Proton version.
I know this is arguably not Nintendo, but I'm playing the new remaster of the classic PS1 & PC game Croc: Legend of the Gobbos that just came out. I have the Nintendo Switch physical Collector's Edition pre-ordered which comes with an awesome statue of Croc, but I haven't received it yet and double-dipped on PC due to having played it with the keyboard on my childhood PC back in the day.
(Correction: BOTW + Switch 2 Edition pack is $110, not $120)
If you only get the upgrade for the duration that you have the subscription, then that definitely doesn't make the one-time-purchase cost justified in my opinion. If you consider that Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom is (still) $90 on it's own, the upgrade being included for $110 means that the upgrade alone will be at least $20. While I was watching the direct, I thought it was stupid you had to pay for it at all, but honestly expected it to only be $5 at the most. After all, when you buy a Switch 2, you're paying for the power the console has in that purchase. You shouldn't be forced to then unlock that power through a further DLC; it's not like they remastered the game or something. This is like Tesla making you pay extra for features that are already built into their cars.
However, I do think that the Switch 2 Edition packs like the one in Kirby and the Forgotten Land are justified to cost money, because they actually include a new campaign like a normal DLC should. Even with Kirby though, the actual graphical enhancements should be free. The new campaign should be the only paid part.
My new trend is not buying from Nintendo.
I'm in Australia too. Did you notice that they increased the price of the slightly-improved Switch 2 Pro Controller to $120 AUD compared to the Switch 1 Pro Controllers $99. What a load of crap. How much is the dock gonna be separate? $200? Plus, if you wanna buy Breath of the Wild with the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition pack included, it's going to cost you $120 $110... a game from 2017 that only had a value for the resolution tweaked and an increased framerate cap...
"Absolute legend" is is just an Aussie saying. Nothing bad about it. Calling someone a legend is very common in lots of parts of Australia.
Not exclusivity. The game was announced to be coming to the Switch 1 with the last trailer in June last year.
I really appreciate when a dev puts the extra effort in to make a Linux port, but I can understand when a solo dev such as you doesn't have much time to spend on porting. To be honest, I'm just happy if the developers at the very least test the game on Linux using Proton and WINE to make sure it's working well and correctly. That way if making a native port really is that much of a hassle, I expect them to at least test it on Linux. I think that most large teams should make a (good) native port, though.
Slime-San controller bindings?
Answered: It is the minus button
TLDR: What is the button mapping for resetting a level in Slime-San? (I have a valid reason for not being able to figure it out)
I know this might be an unlikely place to find an answer, but is there anyone here who owns the indie game Slime-San who can help me figure out a certain button binding? You see, I recently got the game on PC, and I'm playing with a controller. Annoyingly, the developers bound the retry/reset level button to Enter on the keyboard, even for controller players. I played the games demo back in 2017 on the Nintendo Switch and I'm almost certain I remember there being a controller binding for it. I just want to map the function on PC on my controller, to the same as it is on Switch.
But I can't figure out online what the button is supposed to be. In all the gameplay videos I see on YouTube, every player keeps skipping past the sign at the beginning of the game which let's you know what button to press, and there doesn't se
So uhh, why does "Warning: Cancer and reproductive harm." appear at the bottom of the DKCHD store page? LMAO
It's just so out of context, like what is this trying to say about the game? 😆
