  • Every time someone posts something like this about food and I don't notice the badness, I wonder if it is because I'm an unsophisticated rube and have never had anything better so of course I wouldn't know the difference while the poster is refined. Or if it's just that different people have different taste buds and preferences. Or if it's because the internet and human brains have negativity bias and are more likely to post "x food nasty" than "x food mediocre (actually mediocre, not the way people use it as a synonym for "bad" nowadays)" or "x food good".

Especially with big brands, and nowadays big American brands giving the horrible things the United States of America is doing—similar to how people are very happy to call people's looks ugly when their personality is ugly even if they don't look all that bad—emotional sentiment either legitimately affecting their judgment of other qualities, or them knowing the thing isn't actually that bad but they'll exaggerate the badness because they have grievances with other qualities besides, say, the food's taste or person's looks.

All this to say I've eaten Hershey's (gotten them as gifts, don't purchase it myself) and do not think it is awful, is it actually this bad and I'm a rube blessed with no taste and thus the ability to enjoy more things? Is it the internet being the complain-y internet, especially with Hershey's probably being a big brand and being American which are unpopular nowadays, regardless of the actual quality of the chocolate? Or a mix of the two?

  • Was hoping someone in the comments had the answer, thank you (I am trusting and not verifying)

  • I think !nicememes@sopuli.xyz would like this too. Would crosspost myself but Piefed has made that hard for things that are not link posts.

It helps that I'm a girl so I have a lot of socially acceptable non-jean options for bottoms.

  • My solution to people hating The Chair is a coat hanger. It does the exact same thing as The Chair in a way that appeases people since its only purpose is to hold clothes.

  • I am just going to agree to disagree with you here.

  • The question is where do you draw the line? I'm sure that in Victorian times, something like sex with the lights on or anything not heterosexual is

the honestly disgusting and insane things that get published

    and

    literary depravity

I think a better question is how do we prevent people from getting hurt in real life, not what do you personally find disgusting. I personally cannot watch horror, pimple-popping, even had to look away during some action movies because I think the injury shown in these is disgusting, I actually have a pretty visceral reaction to it, but I don't argue for these things that will live rent-free in my head in a negative way to stop existing for everyone. I just don't consume it, and ask people to tag content appropriately if I see it untagged. But of course, if you injure a person in real life and not just on film or a book, then by all means throw the book at them and stop the depraved insanity.

  • I probably should have mentioned with this post that if it was the American Red Cross, you can call up and ask to be put on the do not call list. Haven't gotten a call from them ever since, as a regular donor.

  • Man I miss !musicals@kbin.social, I love musical theatre. The person who modded it took the username Prouvaire, like the minor character from Les Misérables, which I found pretty cool. Though I admit I'm much better at participating in one (whether behind the scenes or onstage) than at sitting down to watch one I'm not studying to better contribute to my own theatre group's performance of it.

  • My naive understanding of things says this is what construction companies are for. Pay the one that does the best work the fastest. It already exists, just not in publicized easy-to-judge ways. Of course, perverse incentives and corruption as well as just "work expands to fill the time allotted" and genuine roadblocks in progress and complex stuff I do not 100% know because I do not work at a construction company but am vaguely aware exists because of adult cynicism plays a part too…

  • idk, this reads more like posting anything that reads as "cozy" than screeching.

notice lately how nobody makes a point we disagree with nowadays or gets mildly upset, when we talk about people proposing things we do not like they are ridiculous screeching crying babies? it's… disheartening. i'm not the biggest fan at all of the direction of !nicememes nowadays and try to post memes instead of generic "cozy" tweets when i have time, but come on, she's not screeching. she is just sharing someone else's post
