  • There are a lot of people that seem to be in denial of the severity of our situation and offer no substance in the face of hopeless. Yet they think they can motivate people to disbelieve their own experiences in favor of comforting the malformed sensibilities of denial.

  • Here's another excellent reason for disillusionment you have identified. People think if you just go outside you will be cured of anything at all, and they will recite this nonsense to you without fail. No one is allowed to experience social and political alienation because that is somehow a crime against collectivism.

    But it isn't. These things are necessary to admit to move forward. The very infrastructure you would put others down for not valuing and not accessing does not exist.

    Self hatred is among the few unironic, impassioned positions youths allow themselves to make. This means self hatred is an effective way to get attention online. It is wholly undignified but nothing will be done to stop it whatsoever.

  • Yeah I'm done being optimistic at all. I resent everyone that is fighting for a better future because most of us are just too up our own ass to see the big picture.

    I think people generally don't actually care about the evils of the world. They only want to exploit these problems for their own gain. It's all anyone knows.

    I am exhausted and depressed. I give up the fight against myself, constantly looking to build faith in people against my better judgement and against my most natural compulsions. I don't believe that centering community will slowly repair the world because we have too few shared experiences. I will not continue deluding myself just so I can pour every last bit of me into something that won't grow, won't learn, won't even stand up for itself.

We have only begun to destroy the world as nothing but a paper tiger.

  • I usually respond to the propaganda by pointing out that the vast majority of my fellow imperial citizens are disagreeable and ignorant at best, sinister at worst, sometimes profoundly so. Most of my fellow workers and students that have visas to be are actually quite privileged, other than the clear dangers of being a non citizen. It's impossible for them to hide their wealth even as they involve themselves with our union. They still try to hide the fact that they grew up with servants back home, or receive considerable funding from their government on top of our union faught wages.

    So what am I trying to say here? Basically, I don't care if there are Venezuelans that are glad Maduro was kidnapped. Not everyone has good opinions and no one is worth listening to based solely on their nationality.

    I have my own politics. If I can best synergize with Venzualans that are in support of Maduro, or more specifically, are against imperialism, that would be ideal. But not everyone is my friend.

    I won't back down from my own politics just because someone disagrees. It does nothing for me or anyone I care about to demonize Maduro, regardless of his faults.

  • Yes. Decades of thinking every other thought you had was actually from divine inspiration. People come to see their lives as a story of redemption, salvation, and power as a child of the living God. It has consequences.

  • No. Killing and hurting animals is not bad for humans. Rather, killing and hurting animals with improper methods and ethics will invariably encourage harmful outcomes. These outcomes will not manifest with even distribution across humanity, other animals, and other life forms. It's sad you are so disconnected from reality that you are so confident making infantile statements that are easily dismissed. You may as well start a religion that condemns the climate itself instead of addressing the causes and dangers of climate change.

    And while I'm here I'll just add ... stop separating humanity from the rest of the biosphere so casually. Are you so arrogant to believe other life forms are blameless or even without ethics? Vegans treat "animals" the same way Mormons treat Indigenous Peoples as "Lamanites" that are simultaneously purer than but still lessor than and in need of "salvation." You use other life forms as tokens just as all colonial religions do.

  • Education and work opportunities. Most of higher education across the world is done in imperial languages because the WBG and IMF tend to hate when a vernacular is used. So college undergrad and graduate education can demand going abroad.

    Further, the discourse surrounding the US as a "third world country" is quite problematic, reinforcing fallacies of progress and modernity as normative while also fear mongering that the civilized subject has become a degenerate barbarian, something that can only make sense for fascists and colonizers.
