  • This comment shows that you know less about computers, than you may think. You can definetly make end to end encryption work using a Website. JavaScript runs client side. So as long as you trust the encryption algorithm (which in elements case you definetly can, because it is OSS), the encryption is safe and your unencrypted data never leaves the device.

  • Just don't use AI and you'll be fine

  • There is nothing wrong with solar + batteries, because battery prices (like solar) have been falling massively in the last few years. So solar + enough battery capacity is still dramatically cheaper that fossil fuels. Just look at what South Australian has been doing in the last few years.

  • Yeah, he looks way older now, that's how I could immediately could tell

  • I don't really think she is trying to do the right thing. She was Trumps biggest ally for YEARS while he did some of the worst things, you could think of and she most likely knew about the Epstein stuff way before this and actively covered it up. She doesn't believe in anything except her own power.

I think, the reason she is doing this is because she recognized that Trump is a sinking ship and she is trying to take advantage of that for her own gain. Maybey she wants to run for president in the future or at least be the loyal companion of one. If she were to continue defending Trump for everything his admin does, she would sink with him, so she tries to get out.

  • How is it, that every time I read an insane take on Lemmy and I look at the username, it's lemmy.ml? Without exception.

  • I would suggest just downloading Godot and following a few tutorials. That's how I got started anyways (well, with Unity but Godot wasn't half as good back then as it is today).

I would suggest watching the Godot Tutorials from Brackeys, because they are excellent: You could start with this one. If you want some more tutorials, maybey have a look at Gdquest (they also have a YouTube channel linked on their website, which is really good).

And most important of all, just try to not take it too seriously. Have some fun! Your games won't be good for a while, and that's OK, because everyone starts out this way. But if you really enjoy the process and stick to it, I am certain that you will create amazing things! And if you find out, that you don't like it, that's totally OK too, then you can just keep looking for other hobbies, because there are so many cool things to do in the world.

  • They aren't walking back anything. They just repeated their claim, that "most people won't even have to give their IDs, because our AI will read all your messages and decide if you're 18"

  • 8-)

  • Look at her neclas, now that's my definition of kool af!

  • Google Photos -> Immich! Trust me on this, nextcloud is great for a lot oft things, but definetly not photo backup.

  • Please enlighten me how that would work? Because even if you only use open source, that would still mean, if it's a permissive licence, you would have to give proper attribution (which AI can't do) and if it's copyleft, all your code would have to be under the same licence as the code and also give proper attribution.

Edit: I just looked your model up, apparently they ensure "ethically sourced training data" by only using pupicly available data and "respecting machine readable opt outs", which is not how copyright works.

  • Use pairdrop.net, in my opinion, it's pretty easy to convince people to use that, because it works well, is intuitive and they don't need to install anything

  • This looks a lot like AI slop to be honest

  • This is like the shrimp Jesus but actually real, pretty cool

  • Fritzkola is german

  • I haven't quite understood, what LiveKit has to do with video conferencing. Isn't that just some weird AI thingy?

  • But honestly, Requiem for a Dream was pretty bad in my opinion. It had no real depth, the characters didn't make much sense, it was just ooh, drugs bad basicly.

  • That's not how this stuff works. Gamers decide, what stores succeed, not game devs.

Also Valve has policies, that say that you can't offer your game for cheaper elsewhere, which means, that gamers can never notice the difference between a 30% cut or an 8% cut.

  • That's not how the network effect works. If Deva go elsewhere, nobody buys their game. Most people will never even know of the games outside of steam.

  • What about game devs though? They are clearly hurt already by the insane fees.

Just think about it. When you buy a game for 10€ on steam, steam get's a flat 3.33€ just for giving you a "buy game" button. The gamedeev get's maybe half of what you payed (Taxes, engine fees etc.).

Don't you think, that there is something kind of fucked up about that?
