PUG ( web template engine ) for Python 🐍

Hi,

I've discover haml and pug [^1] ( both web template engine )

It's totally Pytonic ! ( and make even more sense to use it with python rather than JS 🤮 )

I've look, if it exist for Python, but so far, I've found only

The first, only convert pug into another template :/
\ The second, didn't pass the alpha version.
\ The third, require dependence, not maintained etc.. \

So I didn't found a Python package that could do haml/pug to html directly, without too much dependence...

For example:

From

 pug

html
  head title Example for Python discuss
  body
    h1 Hello world
    p This is a paragraph.

To

 html

<html>
  <head>
    <title>Example for Python discuss</title>
  </head>
  <body>
    <h1>Hello world</h1>
    <p>This is a paragraph.</p>
  </body>
</htm

LAN: authentication and monitor data consumption

cross-posted from: https://programming.dev/post/20616555

Hi,

I would like to create a LAN where each node need to authenticate before gaining access to the LAN.

and secondly be able to monitor the data consumption of each node and even limit the speed for a node when exceeded.

I'm looking for something FLOSS. For example a single-board computer with a gnu/Linux etc...

Maybe some distribution or solution already exist for this ?

Thanks.

How store a file with a timestamp in a decentralized manner?

cross-posted from: https://programming.dev/post/19958073

Hi,

I'm looking for a solution to archive files in a decentralized system. that would meet those requirement:

  • FLOSS
  • date-stamp the upload of the file.
  • immutable storage ~ WORM
  • anonymous (like TOR)

I was considering IPFS but it does not date-stamp the upload :'( you can make a description-file but this is unreliable, as you can set any date..

I'm lost between hyphanet.org and Freenet.org ?!
\ are those the same project ?

According to A.I:

Hyphanet is focused on secure, private, and efficient communication and data sharing, with an emphasis on enabling users to monetize their data while maintaining control over their data sovereignty.

is that true ? I can't found the information on their website...

Which FLOSS software for DIY CCTV / video surveillance ?

cross-posted from: https://lemmy.ml/post/18530232

Hi,

I would like to build myself a DIY DVR

Here what I'm targeting

  1. The software is FLOSS
  2. Have a community/free/gratis version that can handle >= 16 cameras and it's usable (meaning not crazy restricted)
    or
    \ is paying, but not crazy scheme (like subscription etc..) So you pay once, and you can use that version forever for unlimited number of cameras.
  3. Lightweight on resources ( can run on a Single-board computer )
  4. Can handle Hardware compression.
  5. Can handle Passthrough recording (IP camera)
  6. Have a HTTP server User interface.
  7. Can record audio, when the camera provide it.
  8. Motion detection (possible to enable at certain times)
  9. extra: Written in Python
  10. can record

Find a decent Internet v2 domain registrar

Hi,

Unfortunately I need to register a domain name for the "old" Internet. So this one with the domain name scam[^DomainScam] and so on..

So which registrar would you recommend that is the closed regarding the FLOSS / GNU philosophy ?

And then I hope the world, will migrate to something better than this WWW scam and I could get rid of this domain..

Thanks.

Make Lemmy thrive, Privacy &amp; Censorship.

cross-posted from: https://programming.dev/post/6788379

Hi,

As we might all know ( Early adopter of Lemmy ). Lemmy has been (also) made to give an alternative to the censor kingdom of Reddit ! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lemmy_(software)

And further more Lemmy is fLOSS 😍

Great ! but watch out ! we don't want that Lemmy take the same path as Reddit did ! ( hopefully this is limited as it run as a ~Federated model )

Anyways, I believe to avoid censorship and jeopardize users privacy the following should be considered by Instance admins and moderators.

  • Avoid as possible a mandatory email to register Doing so is not reducing spam or whatever you're afraid ! It's limiting users to create account that preserve their anonymity ! If you don't know why anonymity is important I'll suggest you to dig this website to start with https://www.laquadrature.net/en/support/#chiffrement BTW if I couldn't be anonymous, I
