Regina Spektor - Fidelity

If I remember correctly, Regina Spektor wrote this after watching the film High Fidelity. I think it's a great tune.

Original Title: Cursory review of Lockheed Martin's corporate transactions from 2004-2011. This was completed in an effort to identify the defense contractor that facilitated the CIA's wishes to block LMT's divestment of UFO materials, during the AAWSAP/AATIP days.

Post 2 of 2 with supporting info and additional context surrounding Lockheed's corporate transactions.

[Post 1 is here: David Grusch says the CIA blocked Lockheed Martin's divestiture of UFO materials during AAWSAP/AATIP early days. I believe when he says CIA, he is pointing toward a specific defense contractor called Pacific Architects and Engineers, Inc. (PAE).](https://www.reddit.com/r/UFOs/comme

California resistance predated 1969 Stonewall Rebellion

In 1966, “Compton’s Cafeteria Riot” erupted in the streets of San Francisco’s Tenderloin district when a group described as transgender women and gay street hustlers fought back against police harassment. Rebellion broke out after a trans customer in the all-night cafe reportedly threw a cup of hot coffee in the face of a cop who was roughing her up. Transgenders and transsexuals threw sugar shakers through windows, overturned tables and torched a police cruiser. (San Francisco Bay Times, March 23, 2006)

On the 40th anniversary of the rebellion this year [2006], community-organized events in San Francisco will commemorate this important milestone uprising. The 1966 events are brought to new generations in the recent film documentary “Screaming Queens” — written, directed and produced by Victor Silverman, an associate professor of history at Pomona College, and Susan Stryker, former executive director of the GLBT Historical Society in San Francisco.

Jenny Lewis with the Watson Twins - See Fernando

Youtube link

I was delighted to find this clip from an appearance on Conan O’Brien in 2006. I was lucky enough to be in New York at the right time to go to one of the shows that Conan mentioned in the intro. It was a really good show!

Conan mentioned that this song was from the album Rabbit Fur Coat that’s they were on tour for, however, it was actually on the follow up, Acid Tongue (2008). Both are good albums.

When checking this, I discovered that Paz Lenchantin played on See Fernando and several other tracks on Acid Tongue. Paz was later recruited to play bass in The Pixies.

Malajube || Montreal -40°C [vidéoclip officiel]

I was in the habit of listening to CBC Radio 3’s rather good podcast that showcased Canadian music. Malajube were one of the only Francophone artists that I remember. I think that their earlier tune ‘Le Robot Sexy’ (2003) was the first song of theirs I noticed.

’Montreal -40°C’ is from their album Trompe L’Oeil.

PS -the podcast ended and I never found a suitable replacement, so if you know a similar podcast for new Canadian bands, it would be nice to know.

Summertime

After I posted Lemonhead's version of Luka, I wondered whether Ben Deily had made any more music after leaving the band. It turns out that he pursued a career as an advertising copywriter, but did indeed have a band called Varsity Drag.

This track is from 2006 album, For Crying Out Loud. Here is a live version that was filmed in Germany in 2007. Have quite enjoyed the tunes from this band that I have listened to.

Jarvis Cocker - Running the World

Contains swears, which French TV didn't seem to mind.

This song AKA '(Cunts Are Still) Running The World', was included as a "secret" track on CD and as a bonus 7" with the vinyl LP version of The Jarvis Cocker Record.

A few years ago, there was a push to get this to Christmas #1 in the UK.

Aberfeldy - Hypnotised

Edinburgh's Aberfeldy (which is also a place in Scotland) made some delightful chamber pop records in the 2000s. They bear a resemblance to other Scottish bands like Belle and Sebastian, and Camera Obscura. You may also have heard their music in a Diet Coke TV commercial.
