What a sad day. My favorite browser @Vivaldi @vivaldibrowser failed me after 4+ years. It decided to hard crash and not only corrupt all the tabs, but also the saved sessions, so I can't restore them.

They were also beeing having issues with sync the last few weeks and at least on the forum, Vivaldi ambassadors are very combative about it when it's mentioned. So their own sync failed and then the hard crash corrupted the local session save.

@Vivaldi @vivaldibrowser Vivaldi is my favorite browser; I've gotten used to its many features and the way it keeps everything organized, and I think I could hardly do without it. But... I feel almost forced to switch because some interactive websites don't work. If I open them with Edge, everything works fine, but if I use Vivaldi, I get various errors, and this has been happening for several months.

Hey hey! Looks like @kde Neon has been rebased to 24.04 aka Noble. I started the upgrade right away. The upgrade script crashed halfway because of some problem with apt configuration (probably my fault) but I cleared the error and finished it by hand with "apt dist-upgrade". Reboot, ok.

I only had to purge all that snap+apparmor nonsense that was preventing thunderbird from opening web links and crashing @Vivaldi browser. I really do not understand the point of apparmor outside of server world. How can you be so arrogant to think you'll be able to predict all the possible uses of a consumer software, and decide that it is ok to cause all the other uses to fail with only a cryptic error message buried in the system logs?

Hey @Vivaldi do you plan on still supporting Manifest v2 extensions? If so, are you going to open your own extension repository so extensions like @ublockorigin can still be downloaded?

I am tempted to start using the @Vivaldi browser but then I looked at the diversity in the underlying technology and I think it is better to promote and start using @firefox :firefox: more.

Or should we leave it to #Google :omyagoogle: and #Apple :appleinc: only❓

I'm curious 😅 @Vivaldi why not use SpiderMonkey and Gecko❓

Having moved from @Vivaldi to @firefox for windows, I've come accross this amazing plug-in that gives me keyboard control over Firefox. https://github.com/gdh1995/vimium-c

Tried the @Vivaldi browser. A good example of when "the more the better" doesn't work. Sure it is an IMHO.

Still very interesting. Having your emails and calendars integrated into a browser is a good alternative when OS-built-in tools for this are crap.

Now back to @firefox.
