Hope @hariette is doing OK and has support she needs. And will return when ready.
Lesson today is: Always FLOSS to avoid cavaties.

This is a real bummer. It is a shame it was never open sourced. :(
I sincerely hope @hariette is doing okay! If she reads this, the community still appreciates you. lt;3

Mod resignation from the Artemis project
Advisory:
Please do not harass anybody who was involved in Artemis, no matter what. Everyone’s got their own lives going on and nobody knows the full extent behind actions or lack thereof. If any does occur, we vehemently condemn it without question.
Let’s get straight to the point:
@Lilkev and I (@w8l) are formally stepping down as moderators of the Artemis app communities (Discord, Matrix, and kbin), due to a lack of communication from project lead and founder @hariette.
Many people in the Artemis community have been patient and understanding of the lack of activity, ever since a prior period of radio silence was justified by Hariette saying that she was recovering from chronic pain. However, this has gone on for long enough that the official Artemis Camp instance has failed over and never recovered. This is a problem for Artemis app users, since it is the only instanc

I don't know anything concrete, but Ernest is giving a lot of updates over at /m/kbinDevlog. He's apparently testing the API implementation more or less as we speak. :)

Ernest is looking into enabling the API this weekend, which would be the final step needed in order to get Artemis up and working. :)

She last wrote in the end of September that she has been having health issues, but that she wants to get back to working on Fediverse stuff. I guess her health problems might have gotten worse again, or maybe life just got in the way.
https://tech.lgbt/@hariette/111111786205981208
In other news it looks like Ernest is currently experimenting with potentially enabling the API on the main branch of kbin:

What is next for Artemis?
If it is bug 363 just log out and log back in.
However, the Artemis.camp seems to be acting up right now. It isn’t updating with recent content.

The last I heard, @hariette couldn’t add kbin.social to Artemis until the API was released and the instance updated to have it.
It also looks like hariette took a short break from Artemis for personal reasons, but returned recently and even replied to a comment about enabling mbin instances for the app.
Perhaps once ernest formally enables the API, hariette will be able to update Artemis accordingly? Just my guess.

Hey, the API is on board.

Does the latest update to kbin.social include the API?
https://kbin.social/api is a 404, but the API PRs have already been merged...

Of course there are more already! https://fedidb.org/software/mbin

As a creator of the fork.. Yes I run it as well ;) https://mbin.melroy.org .. But there are many more already migrated towards the community focused fork, see: https://fedidb.org/software/mbin

@AcumenDonor Is there actually any Mbin instances yet?

Not yet - Ernest is working on it but is dealing with some issues in his personal life first.

Hey y’all, it’s been a while. Had a rough month with a flare up of my chronic pain. Doing better now and had a chance to recharge. And I’m so dying to get back to contributing to the #fediverse community ✨❤️

What’s happening with Artemis these days?
I’m guessing @Hariette has been taking a well-deserved break?
Or maybe the API integration into kbin has not proceeded as smoothly as hoped?
At any rate. I mostly just wanted to make a thread via web browser on artemis.camp and check if I could see it in the TestFlight article.

Hey Artemis! Gave the app a small shout out at The Unofficial Guide to /kbin!

It absolutely depends upon the API, the unofficial workaround means that any time Kbin updated, support would be broken.
I think this is the PR? Seems like it's still very much WIP.

Has there been any update on when the kbin API will be available? A few weeks ago, I heard it would be "a few days," and haven't heard anything since.

Sorry about that! We had a big outage, find a report and timeline over here. It has been contained and fixes have been pushed. So hopefully things are stable now. But still monitoring and doing some more upgrades this weekend. [email protected] is the community dedicated to the instance.

Hey, would you look at that! No one claimed @jon yet!

One big reason I prefer /kbin over lemmy… DOMAINS. And they’re coming to Artemis app ✨

Attached: 1 image One reason why I use /kbin over lemmy… domains are treated as first class citizens! Meaning you can follow or block them. Nice way to find new communities sharing whatever type of content you’re into 🔎 Of course, lemmy support on Artemis app is being worked on. There’s just a...

Getting close to a release candidate for next update and the public beta on https://artemis.camp instance!

/kbin's API is Almost Here - and Artemis Public Beta Isn't Far Behind!!
Back on June 13th I jumped ship from Reddit.
https://tech.lgbt/mediaproxy/110539622656202665/original
I went with /kbin, and I really needed an app. So I said I would make one. And, well, four hours later I had the first prototype of what would become Artemis!
A Long But Short Way
It really hasn't been that long but it feels like a LOT of time has passed. I blame the massive inflection point we're at in the #Threadiverse’s history. But also, just look how much of a community has formed around Artemis! Our Discord server is only a few weeks old but has over 1,200+ users. So many people are helping from every corner. And over 3,000 testers signed up!
One number remains small: Only 700 are actively using the private beta right now. But even that is soon to change...

I made some icons for the next icon pack, what do you guys think?

Some more info and the reasoning behind design decisions.
Artemis’ quiver is a reworked Artemis’ kbin community icon, but while that icon had 7 arrows for good luck, this one has five — for future five stars in the App Store :)
Stellar siblings is called that because the stars on the background are taken from a region in the night sky that includes the Lyra constellation — one that is associated with Apollo, Artemis’ brother. Larger stars are from the constellation itself, while smaller ones are those visible around the constellation. All the stars are carefully placed using stellar maps, so what you see on the icon should pretty closely resemble what you’d see irl if you can find Lyra.

And Artebierre is just fun imo :) The name is a nod to Alcubierre drive, the fastest sci-fi-ish FTL drive (to get "to the moon"). Not completely sure about the nebula shape yet, and whether it should have more or less contrast in gen

Artemis private beta rollouts have begun!
Hi there, the Artemis private beta rollout has just started! @hariette will be emailing 50 signup sheet users, while @lilkev will be adding 50 users from Artemis Discord. The order will be based on the submissions to the private beta signup form, as well as general activity within the Artemis community.
Submitting for TestFlight on iOS will take some review time (a day or two). Beta testers will be able to install the APK already, with the Play Store beta testing coming tomorrow.
And now a message from @hariette:
Lot of work leading up to this. And just wanna give thanks to: @Lilkev, @lavender, @klin, @w8l, @RheingoldRiver and countless others from the alpha-squad. Y'all are AMAZING a
